help with mgs2 pc

I recently bought metal gear solid 2: substance for the pc. Unfortunently when I start the game all of the in-game noises, sounds, and music sound choppy and staticy. I installed the ati patch, and nothing sound wise has been fixed.

does anyone know whats wrong and can help? thanks.

have u updated directX and ur sound drivers??

how would I go about checking my direct x settings?

point to the start menu-->run-->
once there, type in dxdiag

i dunno if u still read this (being 3 weeks ago) and i had exact same prob.
Heres how i fixed:
1. Installed full game (ie. all 8 gb or wotev it was)
2. Change every single GRAPHICS option to lowest
This made it work. After that experiment to see which option it was that screwed up the sound (i think it was a slider) then u can put them back up and just keep that option on lowest setting
