I have a few backup Verbatim DVD+RW movies and I would like to know if I watched these DVD+RWs on my Slimline PS2 would it damage the laser of the Slimline PS2 considering they are rewriteable discs.

whoa rw are not a good idea for movies, well there not good for anything thats not a pc dvdrom. i wouldnt even recommend +r's. try it. if it works it works. but with out a doubt that lens is going to stress. next time use dvd-r's and use a better brand like ritek and tayon muden.

I have a slimline PS2 , and I play copied DVDs on it perfectly fine without stressing the laser. Although I have never tried it with DVD+RW, and like kurze said I wouldn't recommend it either.

What if I use Ritek DVD+R backup movies will they have a bad affect on the laser?

Well I use Datawrite DVD-R and mine work fine, so you should have no problems with Ritek DVD+R.

From what I understand of it DVD-R's work because thats what the games and stuff are burned on. DVD+R's wont work on it, I've tried a few on it and they've never worked. Just stick with the -R's if you can.

Some can take +r's or some can take -r, or maybe even both (like mine) I have used both types, and they worked fine for me.
