Some people say that if you burn the dvd at 1x it will work better or read better..... i have burned everygame at 8x and haven't had a problem. It could be the type of disc. what kind of media are you using?

Hey, i think its one of many things either
1. Your laser is going, How old is your PS2?
2. The DVD's were a dodgey pack or are not supported by your version of PS2 properly
3. The speed, but it seems it cant be that from what you have said
4. Your DVD burner, Try burning other games
Just try all these and you should come to your solution, Trial and Error.

Is it with all your online backups or just one? What patcher are you using?
