just got myself a new phone that come with the IPod Mini for free... now was it free cos it only lasted an hour?

anyone know when i start the thing why it would show the apple symbol... then a folder with a caution type symbol... then turn off?

ive tried reseting the thing by plugging it into mains power yadda yadda yadda... and evan reset/update through the pc, but it comes up saying error or something with the firmware.

anyone shed some light on what the prob could be please help

take it back and get another one. And if they say that you cant say you are returning the phone and the contract.

i was more so wondering if its something i have done or if its a hard/software fault with the damn thing, ive read millions of problems at various forums but no solutions

problem now sorted... and tip to all new ipod buyers, make sure you check your USB port versions... mine had 3 x usb1.1 and 1 x usb2 - so try pulling out all usb devices and process of elimination to make sure usb's are compatable

Looks like you got lucky. At work, I see at least 5-7 iPods come back needing to be sent to service because they are bad, but the error you are referring to means the unit has a bad hard drive 90% of the time.

Most other problems (unit locking, skipping, etc) can be fixed by using the iPod Updater software (updating the firmware & restoring to factory settings)
