I bought a ps-x-change 2 and tales of phantasia. I followed the instructions for the boot disk, and got tales to work. Then, I bought sd gundam gcentury, and no matter what I did, the game wouldn't load on my psone. I even downloaded import enabler , got that running, but it wouldn't load the sd gundam game (the game is old, 1997, and there are no anti-mod codes or patches for it). I just got a black screen. I know the game is good because it works on my emulator, but the psone won't touch it.
I have a US console, tales of phantasia and sd gundam gcentury are both jap import games.
Do I need a mod chip?

I don't see any Fix patches for this game, so it should work.

the game doesn't do anything. when i put it in normally, without the boot loader, the ps doesn't even say "please insert a playstation format disk", it just goes to the cd player like the game was a cd. when i looked at the .cue file:
FILE "C:\CDRWINXX.BIN" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
PREGAP 00:02:00
INDEX 01 14:34:38
TRACK 03 AUDIO
INDEX 00 15:57:05
INDEX 01 15:59:05
TRACK 04 AUDIO
INDEX 00 17:32:12
INDEX 01 17:34:12
... (more tracks)
TRACK 27 AUDIO
INDEX 00 45:12:62
INDEX 01 45:14:62
is this normal?

Here's a site how to use CloneCD or CDRWin http://www.geocities.com/raibee/cdr.html
It's normal if you put in a backup CD in your PSX if you didn't put in the bootCD first. The games are pressed CDs. i don't know what it is, but you can try to back it up with CloneCD and see what happens.

I meant that I put in the original cd in the playstation. It didn't even recognize the game as an import. I know how to use CDRwin, but neither the regular copies, original disks, or copies with region patches work on the playstation, even after I use ps-x-change and import enabler. The disks work fine on my emulator.

you really cant compare the reader of a psone and a pc. the pc supports alot more formats. the only thing i can think of is the condition of the disk? the strength of the lens? is the disk really pressed or a copy? ... i would try this. ferget nero and cdrwin (yuck!) try alcohol 120% rip at the slowest speed, no on the fly, and burn at 1x. good luck
