Can i use this sig(legally)

I'd like to use the following image as my sig, but not sure if i legally can. It is from The Authoritative Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Waterson and is Copyrighted by the Universal Press sindicate. If I just put the legal information under it i should be ok no?

Legally, you cannot use it without getting permission from the author/owner.

You're actually not even supposed to POST it without doing the above.

As much of a fan of Calvin and Hobbes you seem to be, you can certainly understand Bill Watterson's need to control how much his work is
displayed on-line. One of the special requests he asked us to honor
after his retirement was; that we not grant permission for use on-line.
