Does anyone know which program you should use to send telephone calls over the internet that's cheaper than normal?

I assume you are refering to VoIP. You MUST have ADSL or greater (requires huge bandwith) and the calls you make on the phone are charged in your monthly ADSL or Cable account, ie whatever you pay of your connection. thats the end of what i know

There was an article about this in Silicon Chip magazine (an Australian
electronics mag). It is Voice Over IP (VOIP). It doesn't cost you anything
apart from your normal ISP charge.

VoIP Is becoming a big thing, comapnies are using it like crazy to cut down costs. The home user is still suffering though as we need VoIP software on both PC's each end of the wire, or you have to own VoIP phones both ends.

The old way of VoIP was netmeeting using the H323 (if memory serves me right) protocol. This is still the most common way of making Internet calls which also includes video, sa well as audio. MSN6.2 seems to be making a big turn on this though.

Anyhow, check out http://www.voip-calculator.com/ for some decent information on it. To by honest, the only free VoIP software that I know of is http://www.skype.com/.

IHTH
