As the above title says, my windows xp cd has been cracked. I want to know if it is possible to get a replacement for free. Has anyone been in this predictament? What did microsoft say to you?

What did microsoft say to you?amazing you have this problem, microsoft are offering to replace any counterfiets purchased this year as a xmas deal so contact them asap.

When win95 came out I originally had it on floppies (ahhh the good old days). When one of them died I phoned m$ and they sent me a new win95 cd free of charge as it was a legit copy.

If this is a legit copy of xp, contact micro$oft and they will send u another one.

Simple as that.Try reading it again m8, (My windows XP cd has been cracked) Therefore it cannot be legit in any way can it.

You must be english dude :P

In Scotland my home country, "My CD is cracked" would mean that the CD has big ass crack on it and cant be used :P

I think he means a physical crack on the cd. Try reading it again.

Its a physical crack, guys and thanx for the help. I'm not quite sure how the crack happened either, i put it in the cd , it works, restart the computer doesnt work.

These things happen, was working on a machine 2 days ago with the customer watching, but in a cd and it basically exploded in the drive, a large bang. Both myself and customer well soiled ourselves :o

Call microsoft technical support, they'll probably send you one for free. They might ask you for your cd key, so make sure its legit.

Thats what they did with my age of mythologies disk. Not saying they'll do the same for windows, but its wortha a try.
