Half Life 2 offline @ Vengeance

okay, first of all... im really confused and pissed!
i've downloaded the retail offline version of half life 2 and i began to check the stupid install instruction. okay, it says something like "quit your internet connection, install, run the cracker blah blah". i really did this but if i run the hl2.exe there is error "unable to load filesystem_stdio.dll".
what did i do wrong?!
what did vengeance do wrong?!

I think you opened it from the game directory.Make a shortcut on desktop and i think
it will work(it,s something with the DVD)
Now Iwant to ask you if you don't have the error with''..connection with steam servers lost'' because of that ican't play the game even online

naaaah, still the same problem. will it work when i change some parameters?! like "-console" or "-workplz"...
ehm, i didn't burn it on DVD, it's the CD version with 5 CDs downloaded at DCC-network.

i can play it online but i have that ++++ty half life 2 ATI offer... but i wanna play it without steam-connection because it causes stupid lags or something. sometimes it runs liquid but sometimes there are 2-3 second-lags and vengeance says that it will run better in offline mode...

i'm really pissed.
