Hi
I just bought a Pioneer DVR-108 and when i burn anything at 4x it takes 30mins instead of 15mins
And also if i burn say 1.6gig it still takes 30mins
The firmware for the drive is 1.14
my specs are
P4 3.6 prescote
1.25 ddr ram
Geforce FX5900
200gig HD

Any help with this problem i would be greatfull

Most new DVD burners use DMA for transfers. Make sure it is enabled, or you could have problems burning DVDR's.

To enable DMA mode using the Device Manager

Open Device Manager.

Double-click IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers to display the list of controllers and channels.

Right-click the icon for the channel to which the device is connected, select Properties, and then click the Advanced Settings tab.

In the Current Transfer Mode drop-down box, select DMA if Available, if the current setting is "PIO Only."

If the drop-down box already shows "DMA if Available" but the current transfer mode is PIO, then you must toggle the settings.

That is:

Change the selection from "DMA if available" to PIO only, and click OK.

Then repeat the steps above to change the selection to DMA if Available

If this doesn't solve the problem, go to the Pioner Home site and download the latest Firmware Upgrade.

The problem could have been with the media you both was using, some media wont be detected or even written to properly, the firmwares will always have that extra information for new media.

Such as the Datawrite Titanium, which will have problems on some drives, but firmware eventually released will enable drives to recognise the new dye.

yeah i had thought of that also. But I was using three different sets of DVD-R's i got from staples.
