Damn thing won't load up at all

I click on the shortcut nothing no game play...no loading or anything the hour glass pops up then nothing happens...I have windows XP Pro, And most of the patchs out there its for completely different problems. Any suggestions???

have you tried running it off of the main .exe instead of a shortcut
or make another shortcut??
