GC to PC

Right now I have my computer connected to my gc through a network hub (nic -> hub -> gc) but the hub speed is only 10mbps so I can't use the gcsim loader on 100m. However, my nic speed is 100mbps so I tried connecting my nic directly to my gc but when I try to connect, both sides show an error. My gc says that the network is not set up properly and to check the connections while my pc shows the network as disconnected. Does anyone know why this direct connection won't work and how to fix it? BTW, the ethernet cable I'm using is Cat5e, if that makes any difference. Thanks.

I know it's an old post but no one answered.. if you're doing a direct connection to your gc then you have to use a cross-wired cable.
otherwise they're not going to read each other
