I ran a loader.exe file apparantly for halflife 2 , wich would let me play my original game, now every time I load up I get 100s of error messages about wrong game version, this happens EVERY time I boot windows98se, I disabled it using RUN and typing MSCONFIG and unselecting it at startup, but I want to completely remove the bloody thing. I read that it is a microsoft thingie and is ment to be used with winXP. Im running win98se and all it does is cause HUGE CPU slowdowns and ERROR messages.

PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO SAFLY REMOVE IT, EVERY TRACE OF IT!

thanks

I don't have an answer for you but i'm wondering, why are you trying to run half-life 2 on a computer running windows 98?

what you could do however is use the search tool in windows and look for the exact filename you're trying to get rid of and delete every file that pops up..
also, when I had windows 98, if anything like that happened i'd usually just reinstall windows 98..
and i'm not sure if 98se has system restore or not, that might come in handy if you did any backups recently.

Don't remove it.

svchost.exe is a system process belonging to the Microsoft Windows Operating System which handles processes executed from DLLs. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.

I just did a rerformatt, before that i had 7 svchost.exe running :p now i have 3.

a TON of differnt viruses use the svchost.exe name. Check to make sure they all originate from the system32 folder. If not, it maybe a virus.
/edit the chance are the bad one will be under the user procceses, rather then the system or local connection processes
So, when you startup windows, you get 100s of error messages? Go to safe mode, see what happens. Try a virus scan.
