hey,
I got my logitech quickcam sphere today and i plugged it in. Installed the software and restarted. When it restarted it could not find that my webcam was plugged in so i updated the software. and that is where i am now. It can still not find the webcam. I have tried different usb ports on my computer and i have restarted twice. Any help would be most appreciated.

Hrmmmmm... Some USB products require you to install the software/drivers BEFORE plugging in the product.

Read your instructions CAREFULLY & see if it says this.

You can also try, unplugging the cam, then uninstalling the software/drivers. Reboot. Reinstall the software/drivers. THEN plug the cam in & see what happens.

Thanx for the help. After i wrote that message i unplugged the camera and uninstalled everything software related to it. Tried to install the software using the newest drivers from logitech. But it says in the instructions that at some point during the installation i am supposed to see a dialogue which tells me to plug in the webcam. I did not see that dialogue anywhere. Gonna try one more time before i give up and consider formatting and other ludacris ideas.

I reinstalled the camera and found the dialogue which tells me to connect the camera but it didnt do squat. It told me to connect the usb and i did. But nothing happened. I pressed next but then it asked me if i wanted to continue without connecting my webcam, in other words quit. SOooo annoying and frustrating. Going to send logitech a short little email and see what they have to advice. anyways, if anyone gets any bright ideas or has had the same problem, feel free to share!

make sure that the drivers for your USB (not the webcam) are properly installed. even if they are, i recommend going online to find updated drivers for your motherboard's chipset/USB controller... i've had a bad power supply restart my computer when the devices connected to the USB ports drew too much power... i know it's not that relevant, but it might be something you might want to look at.

Here's a thought...

Are you sure that your USB ports are even ENABLED? Have you used them b4?

Thanx for the help u guys. Yeah all my usb ports are in use or have been used at somepoint and i have 550watts powersupply! or so i am told. However, i kinda gave up on the problem the other night, but just a few hours ago, i fixed it or something wierd happened which i had nothing to do with. U see, the instruction guide says that the webcam shouldnt be plugged in, but it does not say that the base should not be plugged in. So by luck i guess, i removed the webcam from the base. Restarted and when the computer had restarted the final part of the installation appeared on my screen, an early christmas miracle? or just stupidity. (p.s. logitech really should make better instruction manuals and get a better support system, lazy gits.)
