windows updates beta?

I am not sure though. I herd that windows updates(from the site) are beta versions also sp2 (the one that you can update from the site) is a beta version. Also that there are 3 versions of sp2. Sp v1 to v3 and that v3 has all the probs fixed (i think u have to pay).

Is this true?

Pfff, windows should still be in freaken beta....

SP2 you do not have to pay for, you order a SP2 CD from Microsoft's Website, also I doubt that they would release bata versions of software unless you are a developer
