Copying archive to hardive from cdr prob?

I burned a 722mb archive to a cdr but didnt realize I had gone over the max limit, the cd burned sucesssfully but I want to retrieve the maximum amout that I can onto the harddisk, I found that copying in windows does not work because once it gets to the point of problems it copy nothing, but in dos I have found that it will copy everything up to the point of problems, the strange thing is I get random size archive, sometimes it copys more sometimes it copys less.

winrar repair option just freezes when I try to repair the cdr archive.

Is there a prog that will let me copy as much as possible to the harddisk?

have you tried doing an image of the cd using nero or some other prog then mounting the image?
