I sometimes have problems with CD-Rs and DVD+/-Rs when I burn files to these blank media about 5 months later the files are damaged and cannot be read. Does anyone know of any brand of media that doesnt have this type of problem or do all blank CDs and DVDs have this problem?

This could very well happen with any brand of media. However, when you use brand name/quality media, the chances are MUCH LESS likely to happen.
I've used Memorex, Maxell, Sony, TDK, Fuji CD-Rs with no problems.
As for DVD-R, I've used Fuji, Memorex, and Legacy. All 3 have been flawless so far...

Dont buy the cheapest discs you can find.I dont go by brand, i go by what type of dye the discs use.For example i use dvd-r discs, but i only get discs that use the ritek G04 dye.Brand name might no always be the best way, for example ive used Verbatim cdrs, the Datalife Plus versions use a really good dye, but i also have used verbatim datalife discs which had a different dye and was so good.
At the mo for dvd-r discs im using ritek branded discs and i had some ridisc ones before that, both had the ritek dye and both are fine.
CD-rs im using both verbatim datalife plus and some datawrite cdrs(ritek dye) both of them are fine.
With cdrs i had good burns with, verbatim datalife plus, datawrite, tdk, ritek branded (had one or two others but i cant remember what)and still working well after a year+. I had a bad experiance with Mr.Data cdrs, ive never used them since.
DVD-r brands ive used that are working fine are traxdata, ritek branded, ridisc, datasafe(all ritek dye) no probs with them.
Oh stay away Bulkpaq.
