Sacred plus ver 1.8 no cd or backup play?

VERY COOL.. first of all I too was one of those people who could not play without a cd with the first version of plus. Apparently it was my lite on dvd writer or something it was not determined.

I thought I would try the lazy man approach. Though I wouldn't suggest it I just wanted to see what would happen. I did have the full english latest version of plus installed and simply backed up my save files as well as the files listed in previous post.

2. Install your version of sacred up till the newest version.
3. Make a copy from these files (as you will need them later):
- global.res (its in the "script" folder)
*** NEW ADDITION ***
**- Copy the US Folder from your script directory or whatever language you use**
- settings.cfg (in main directory)
4. Now deinstall sacred (and make a reboot)
*** NEW ADDITION ***
**- I DID NOT need to uninstall or reboot **
5. install your sacred version and update in your original language to "Plus-Version" 1.8.10 (NOT to the latest version 1.8.26 !!)
*** NEW ADDITION ***
** I DID NOT need to uninstall go and back to previous version works on latest version**

6. Now download the reg files (mentioned from mf_y2k) http://knyaz.info/sitefiles/instALL.zip
7. Copy the russian sacred.exe and install_rus.reg to your sacred directory (overwriting existing files).
8. double click the install_rus.reg file (as acds2 mentiones this doesnt work for WIN98 as it uses different reg-editor)
9. Now sacred thinks that you have the russian version installed.
10. Now download the latest russian update (1.8.26) from ascaron.com (klick on "english" on the welcome page). It weights 130 MB.
11. Install the update (it should work just fine).
*** NEW ADDITION ***
**- Though my update gave me some errors and said it failed I just restarted again**
12. Now copy over your global.res to "scipt/ru" folder (and the language is back to your original) !
13. Remove all entries, starting with FONT in the settings.cfg (except "fontaa", "fontfilters", "fontpages").
14. Your old settings.cfg is to solve the problem with the movies (see point 17.) for comparison.
*** NEW ADDITION ***
** Simply copying your Language folder you backed up to your Scripts folder and copying your settings.cfg you backed up over the new version resolves the movies issue**
15. Now download the Mini Image from russian CD2:

16. Mount it with daemon 3.47 or newest alc120%.
As i told you, the protection is now Starforce 3 (so you maybe have to disable your cd-drives)
17. The last thing is, when you start your game now, make sure, that you tick: "Disable movies" in the starting window (or the config menu).
Because there seems to be a problem between russian and YOUR version. The game will crush, if you dont tick it !
*** NEW ADDITION ***
** If you copied your language script and settings.cfg correctly should not have to disable movies**

The game runs fine now !!

Yes Seven we do have the same version though on Ascaron's site it is 1.8.26 who knows? I'm just happy I can safely put away my cd now.

At first I tried simply copying my settings.cfg file over directly top of the new one. Started Sacred and couldn't see anything. Then I saw the line language=US and realized there was no US folder in my scripts directory. I didn't back mine up so I simply created one and copied the global.res file in there. Started it up. no problems I could read everything.

Also for the record. I didn't have to disable any of my drives. I run Windows XP SP1, have a Liteon DVD writer 1633SOHO from USB2 (installed into hard drive enclosure for portability) and 1 HP DVD200i (old drive) and regular cd drive all IDE.

Note I found when getting the Fake cd from russian site it wouldn't download with my getright download manager running. Once I turned it off the link worked fine.

When you get that pop up to come up. What you need to do is make sure your emulation is running the disk 2 image is mounted, then on that pop up type in the CD key EDITED

I dunno what to say... I played with 1.8.21 for a while and almost every time I get unique item it disappears after some time from inventory (no I didn't sell it). I think it happens if I have that item in inventory and go to finish some side quest (when u receive gold or exp)
I wouldn't worry about that now that u found the way to play with new patch, but there is no that kind of bug mentioned in the fixlist. (1.8.26) and also if u read official game forum you will notice that people always complain about some new bugz, and it is becoming very annoying. I think that I will just stick with diablo2 cause it is even better game than sacred, and no bugz also...

@ Johnny I know exactly what you mean about the bugz. There is a lot of stuff it seems to have fixed including the broken main quest bugs that is not recorded. Yes, they did introduce some new bugz with the fix of the old ones as usual, but all in all it's a pretty good patch. Now, we know we can expect another one to fix this one and I'm sure they will do something with the protection to give us further grief running without the cd.

@ CD Fighter - don't feel stupid because I was stuck there myself for about 15 mins before it dawned on me this is where I put the key mentioned. I'm glad it's running for you.

Note to those who were running 1.5 version because they could not their original cd to work with 1.8. This same fix was used on another system running 1.5 and worked perfectly. The system was stuck on a broken main quest bug where elements were completed out of order. Was able to update and continue to finish the quest and game. Now there is some good news if I ever hear any. -k I've posted too much now I will answer pm's if have any. Sorry everyone just wanted to share the good news.

I discovered this thread yesterday and applied the method previously given by mf_y2k and Seven077 for my french Sacred version and it works perfectly.

Unfortunately :p , Seven077 gave the link 4 starf....U....C...K before me (grrrrrrrrrrrr). With this beautiful tool, everything works like hell, U have nothing to do except cliking to make the game works. Ah, just one thing, I've to empty my chkfiles.txt.....

Thank you VERY MUCH all, especially mf_y2k and Seven077 and the really powerful guys who made the technic to make the game works.....

PS : Jouster I'll try to replace my settings.cfg and see if movies go on......I'll be backup in few minutes ;)

EDIT : Ok Jouster, everything works perfectly. I've replaced my settings.cfg et placed the directory corresponding to my language in the script arborescence. It appears that you don't need to download the full russian update (130MB) file. According to gamecopy you just need sacred_rus_1.8.2.116_retail.exe which is only 14MB and that can also be downloaded from ascaron.

P.S. Finally an explanation about difference between version number of Sacred.exe and in game shown version. Here is quote from sacred forum by Tetrol:
"The version you have currently is actually 1.8.31 - the 3 is actually your area or region code, while the 1 indicates that it is the first version of 1.8. My equivalent version was 1.8.51, and I now run 1.8.56. ("Sub" patches 1.8.x2 through 1.8.x5 were never released.)
eg 1.8.x6 means Sacred 1, version 8, area x, sub patch 6."

I read seven's post and started trying. The movie-disabled version runs easily. Next stop is the movie-enabled version, following the modified description.

The version question has been answered, I wanted to ask it ;-). When I right-mouse the exe, it says version 1.8.2.116. Don't know where you see the other version #. If you could answer that still pls.

And since this was accomplished for christmas, I would suggest we allow others to join in the fun by giving them the game for christmas. It's a very nice game (especially now that we can play without the weird bugs) and I think Ascaron needs to be complimented for it. To seven and mf_y2k the credits for working this out. And to Jouster the last bit of clever thinking :-)

Thanks for the update govmust I'll share these as well. Obviously if people are upgrading from 1.5 like Samae sp? was they would need the full install. If simply from 1.81 then just the 14 meg file. I'll share 2 versions the one w/ the fake cd and hack and the one without. Sacred-18116-working-no-cd-patch-only-upgrade-wfakecdregalreadyhave18.rar and sacred_rus_1.8.2.116_retail.exe. They are now available on emule. I apologize for the minor interruption it took to add the files.

@guyofgames I sent you a pm asking some details as to what the steps you are doing and system info. I'll check to see if I can help you out when I get home from work tonight.

Sorry Jouster but maybe I was a bit hasty there. I tried it with that sacred_rus_1.8.2.116_retail.exe patch and I'm getting errors when movie is about to play(like 3 in a row) and then everything hangs. If I check video compatibility mode in config.exe then after errors movie is played fine, until next movie starts. Then same thing, 3 errors and movie plays. I'm not sure it is because of 14MB patch instead 130MB, but can't test it till tomorow (lousy 56k connection@home) when I'll finish dl @work (256k connection there). Still can't help myself thinking I'm doing something wrong...

Hey guys I'm new to this forum was just trying to find a way to run the new updates with no crack with no cd, as it seems many people have been trying to do and a few have found a remedy. My problem is I am unable to find the file on emule, nor can I find all the necessary files from different places on the net. Can someone help me out and send it or tell me where to look?

BTW I am having the most trouble finding Sacred v1.8.2.116 [RUSSIAN] Patch. Am I overlooking something?

Ok, I haven't had a chance to try the 14 meg update vs the full install. Perhaps it's the change over from regions that need the full who knows? But I'll uninstall my system back to the original plus version and just install the update and do my little settings.cfg fix see if that works with the movies.

For those people looking for the file on emule it's "Sacred-18116-working-no-cd-patch-only-upgrade-wfakecdregalreadyhave18.rar" and "sacred_rus_1.8.2.116_retail.exe". for the upgrade and full is "Sacred_working_1.8.26+all_files_needed_no_CD_patch _only.rar" and "Sacred_working_1.826+needed_minus_russianretupdate _no_cd_patch_only.rar"

I wanted to see if I could make the file name any longer. That's the disadvantage of using emule not an easy way of describing the type of file without making some horrifically huge name.

For those who do not want to wait for the emule you could simply follow the walkthru which has the links that will take you to the necessary sites to pull down the files. The big one is the 130 meg russian full install. Just snag that from http://download.ascaron.com/sacred/sacred_rus_1.8.2.116_full.exe , or if you already have Sacred 1.8 version installed then you only need the update sacred_rus_1.8.2.116_retail.exe which is 14 megs. http://download.ascaron.com/sacred/sacred_rus_1.8.2.116_retail.exe The others are much smaller and easy to dll.

I would share thru icq or msn but my firewall is blocking the ports by choice and would just slow down everyone else who is pulling the file. Speaking of which I will be taking emule down for a short spell while I test this new information. Will have it back up right after I confirm govmust findings. No use sharing something that doesn't work.

-Ok I just uninstalled the game, reinstalled the original disks, patched to 1.826 english, did reg hack and upgraded just the russian 1.8116 update, followed everything on the walkthru. I was able to play the intro movie at start of new game and play the ending movie at the finish of the game just fine. I'm kind of thinking it's in your settings.cfg file Govmust. If you like I can pm you the settings of mine and can compare.

I also think it's probably something else, since I fiddled ALOT with my PC while trying to get this to work. Just curious whats your MoBo's chipset? Mine is nForce2 and I uninstaled those damn SW drivers (earlier versions 1.7&1.8 wouldn't run with them and NOW I hear they are great to f**k up SF3 protection).
Also I disabled some stuff in registry to bypass alc's emulation turning off. I'll try to run your solution at a friend's PC couse he has different MoBo (else is same as mine) & post results of my findings in a couple of hours when i finish with work.

Here you wil see four folders (0000, 0001, 0002, 0003).Find there parameter "Service" have value "a347bus".
3)Right click on that folder there you find a347bus and select "Permissions".

I'm glad to hear people are have a great success. Keep the addtional info and assistance coming as we are likely to experience people with unique settings that may run into issues. This is a great combined effort that has brought this latest solution to the light of day. I for one am the least person who has made this possible I did the easy part simply finding why the movies don't play without errors and providing an easier resource though extremely time consuming since I have a slow dsl connection :( (but hey at least those who can keep their computer running over night while they sleep can get most of it then). I only wanted to do my part in helping out and still will where I can I just have very limited knowledge when it comes to the actual protection stuff. There I have to rely on the experts. Rest assured when Ascaron comes out with another patch I don't doubt it for one minute they will have a fix for this and we will once again need to put our heads together to come up with another solution. I am simply amazed with how this solution came about. Who in their right mind would have thought a different language had a different protection scheme and then come up with a way to make it playable. I guess that part wasn't so hard since we could definitely tell the difference with the script folder and effects of changing it. Well I'm off to work if anyone needs any help feel free to pm me or leave hear. I'll reply when I get home.

@govmust - good luck on your solution just curious does your video card pass the display tests in dxdiag? Maybe it might be some incompatibility with the Windows Media 9 codex and your display driver? You might try uninstalling the codex reboot and reinstall?

so here is what i did with .26 update
and it works every time on my pc
(win xp sp1)
im using alcohol 120% ver 1.9.2 (build 1705)
using the fake cd in my drive

1.if alcohol is installed, uninstall it (also click yes for delete reg entries)
2.reboot
3.install alcohol in expert mode and change the name of the bus and scsi devices (dont reboot after install)
4.start alc, turn all emulations on, minimize alcohol (i prever minimize in taskbar)
5.rename the alcoholx.dll (in the alcohol120 dir)
6.start sacred (in my case it checks about 10 .. 15sec and starts)

sometimes after quitin and restartin the game it doesnt work,
in this case delete the a00*.tmp and swp*.tmp files in ur lokal setinds/username/temp dir (the a00* files are about 1.3 mb the swp* about 1mb)

ok i hope it helps u guys, but it dont work on my friends pc :/ (win2k)


btw:
if u start sacred with alc installed, than the game gets more information from the registry and begins to check varios dll and driver files from ur windows and the aclohol sub dirs.
i think in this case it checks that the data comes from the emuletion output from alcohol or it knows that alcohol is runnin and emulatin (dont know).
i ve tried to search about the reg entries and compared them (before and after reboot) but it changes too much and after deleting some things alc wont start correct with the emulation, so deinst, reboot and reinstallin alc is a bit faster :D.

so good luck with ur tries guys

in the working case, sacred querries informations about alcohol.exe (succes). then alcoholx.dll (not found), after this daemon.dll (ot found). these steps will be repaeted some times, than it goes on initialising ddraw.dll and starts the game.

psps:
in the not working case (booted with alc installed) ccdmount.dll, pdimount.dll, nrgmount.dll, pftoc.dll (in some dirs) will also be checked.
and it repeats these steps for more than a minute. :P

I have Polish version patch 1.8.2.6. It works for me perfectly. Thanx

@ Tailon - what you need to do is mount the disk image 2 then when you go to execute the game enter the key posted not the reg key and click check disk. It should work from there. I would repost the key but I've already been warned not to do so. You can find it in the instructions.txt file which is included in the rar file I am sharing on emule.

@guyofgames - I'm not sure what he is referring to when said needed to empty chkfiles.txt because I didn't do this and works fine for me.

Looks like you never dealed with SF3 protection. I'll try to be as detailed as posible:
When you start the game a grey dialog window will apperar. It has couple of buttons like RETRY, INFORMATION etc. Under those buttons is a LINE where you can type. Just click on it and try typing something to notice it. What you need to do is put (i.e. paste) the KEY (looks like a serial) from page 11 of THIS thread (it is in the middle of jouster's post that starts with VERY COOL...) to that LINE I mentioned (you can copy/paste it).
To the second question: key.reg is actually named noupdatecheck.reg and it just stops testing whether you corectly installed the patch (it is not necesary to execute it to play the game. if you don't execute it dos-like window will appear and test some files. Sometimes, this check will fail but you can just run the game again and it won't appear again)

Once again I apologize for my emule share being so slow. Someone suggested s u p r n o v a . o r g using bit tornado so I'm investigating this. From the initial look at it appears to be a lot faster then emule. I am starting with sending the full russian update with fake cd and reg. They say it takes a couple of days to get posted because moderators actually make sure it is valid before they post it.

I just followed everything step by step. I used my english international cd's for the install (the directions didn't say to use that fake cd for anything). I got the window and put in that cd key and it checks the disk fine. It seems as if Sacred is going to load but then this window pops up saying Error and lists my OS version, cpu speed, and other stuff, then lists a paragraph of random characters. I can pick OK, Cancel, or Report. I pick ok and another one pops up, and I have to go through bout 5 of these until Sacred is minimized in the taskbar. Nothing happens and I have to endtask Sacred.

I have win2k sp4. What's going on?

Well I just went and changed ShowMovie in the config file to "0" and it works now. The guy above said you didn't need to do that if you just copied the config file over fully, but I had to so idk. Since I had to do that, do you think I will need to delete those font files?

Well I set the tick on Play Movies in the settings menu and the game started up, but before each movie would play i'd have to hit OK on that error msg about 5 times. I don't want to have to go through the whole game like that so I stopped the movies again. Would be nice to be able to watch the movies in the game though.

I'm wondering if you running into the same problem govmust was? I haven't heard if we have arrived at a solution or not. It has to do with your video driver, windows media 9 codex and the section loading the gdfx stuff in the settings.cfg. If you compare the original settings of the settings.cfg and the one after installing the Russian update you'll see some differences between them. That is likely where the problem lies why you get the error messages. If you like I can send your settings.cfg file via pm and see if it would work any better?

Here's my settings.cfg. All you have to do is edit the language to match yours in your script folder (ex. Language = US).
Just remove the .txt ext of the file or simply copy and paste the differences especially the GDFX area to your file.

Townhouse & constantinos have the same problem like me. I tried yours settings.cfg Jouster and it is crashing whole game (I deleted SHOWEXTRO : 1 which is only different thing but problem remained). I think its something else. To back up that claim I can say I tried this at a couple of friends PCs and on theirs it works fine. I'm guessing it is conflict with something ELSE that is instaled on our PCs (both Townhouse & constantinos and mine).

It appears that you don't need to download the full russian update (130MB) file. According to gamecopy you just need sacred_rus_1.8.2.116_retail.exe which is only 14MB and that can also be downloaded from ascaron.

P.S. Finally an explanation about difference between version number of Sacred.exe and in game shown version. Here is quote from sacred forum by Tetrol:
"The version you have currently is actually 1.8.31 - the 3 is actually your area or region code, while the 1 indicates that it is the first version of 1.8. My equivalent version was 1.8.51, and I now run 1.8.56. ("Sub" patches 1.8.x2 through 1.8.x5 were never released.)
eg 1.8.x6 means Sacred 1, version 8, area x, sub patch 6."

So in other words yes we have the latest version with newest patches.

Well, besides a few graphic (detail level) and volume differences, and you have fullscreen = 0 where i have 1, there are no differences in our config files.

Also, last night I went to play and forgot to mount the cd2 image into Alcohol and started the game. I was like "oh ++++" and thought it would crash, but it started up and I was able to play fine. So I played without even mounting the image.

The game works fine in every other aspect, just the movies don't work correctly.

I havn't played in awhile but did they change the difficulty on that orc at the beginning with the Gladiator? He used to be easy and i wasn't paying attention to my life and he killed me!!!! lol Also, I'm getting hella special drops from enemies. It's better so far.

Also, does anyone elses game lag a little when zooming out and stuff?

Anyone else with this movie problem run win2k? I'm fixing to reinstall with xp cause ever since I installed win2k and did all updates my computer is running slower and if i attempt to access the cdrom for installing or burning cd's, 98% of the cpu is taken up..it's rediculous.

Looks like you never dealed with SF3 protection. I'll try to be as detailed as posible:
When you start the game a grey dialog window will apperar. It has couple of buttons like RETRY, INFORMATION etc. Under those buttons is a LINE where you can type. Just click on it and try typing something to notice it. What you need to do is put (i.e. paste) the KEY (looks like a serial) from page 11 of THIS thread (it is in the middle of jouster's post that starts with VERY COOL...) to that LINE I mentioned (you can copy/paste it).
To the second question: key.reg is actually named noupdatecheck.reg and it just stops testing whether you corectly installed the patch (it is not necesary to execute it to play the game. if you don't execute it dos-like window will appear and test some files. Sometimes, this check will fail but you can just run the game again and it won't appear again)

Tailon, if you look carefully at the explainations of the versions you'll see that the russian version is the latest. What throws off most people is the region area of the patch the Russian area is 11 and the 6 is the actual subversion. Ex. US area is 2. You can see if you go to Ascaron's download site the russian version used is the latest and greates. Govmust made an explaination of this previously and I've copy and pasted it a couple of times. Rest assured you're playing the latest for now. Enjoy not having to use your original cd's while you can for I'm sure Ascaron is cooking up another challenge next release.

Regarding the earlier idea of using Bit torrent or bit tornado to share the fix. Think I may have to abandon that. It's not as simple as emule. I'm having a hard time finding everything necessary to start seeding. I definitely do not have a dedicated server. So unless some body can provide some assistance via pm looks like it will be just emule. - Sorry -

Hey, I just wanna make an infromation indput, and hope it can be used.

In the former sacred, when it came out, there were that bypass, iff explorer was running, it could jumo to the game and skip the protection.

When you folks changes a lot off settings, running programs and so on, some programs may interfere, and som, who do it the way you "crack the game", cant make it work, couse its all about what programs are runnind in the background.

I've seen what what updcheck does (long list of check at the first boot of the game), but why do you want to prevent it by executing no-updcheck.reg? Does it affect the game if you let it run?

My assumption would be that prevents that update failure message from coming up when you first run it after converting your version. But I have not seen any impacts by letting it run without. Just simply close the update failed error message and restart it. From what I can tell the game runs just fine. Playing silver level now I'll let you know if I run into any major issues other then the new bugs.

@ Saro, sounds like your install of sacred may be corrupted. My suggestion would be to copy your save directory uninstall Sacred. Reinstall the original cd, then go ahead and do the full russian install of course following the steps of backing up your language of your script directory and the settings.cfg before. If it still does not work be sure to give detailed steps of how you're installing so we can see what you might be doing wrong. Also be sure to make sure you have admin rights on your user name.

I think you're right, becouse it passes the Protection System screen, but after that, sacred start launching and maximizes, after few seconds of blackscreen Protection Error appears

I suggest you all stop trying to figure this cracking method out and wait for next patch, since 1.8.26 adds more bugs than fixes to the game. I mean it, just read the Sacred bug report forum. Face it, Sacred will never be fixed, the guys at Ascaron are simply not good enough.

Ok, now maybe we might be getting some where on this protection error. How long ago did you get the russian patch? Where did you get it? Did you get the full install or the update only? When I get some time I'll try to run the latest russian install over my current install and see if they did update something. If it starts to fail then we will know. Just an fyi I've been sharing the original russian install and upgrade on emule and as a torrent-bitcomet.

Yes, Placebo I did read the bug reports and reported a few myself. But for those who were running 1.5 version it is a lot better then that one. I know someone who could not get the 1.8 version running because of the increase protection scheme wouldn't allow his originals to run. He had got all the way to the very end when the Sorceress and Prince Valor would not recognize he completed the Elements quest to launch the attack on the Baron. Turns out he had completed the all the other elements but Earth. When he found the earth element (out of order) this messed up his game and could not finish. Once he installed this latest patch (with the russian version) he could not only play the game but finish from his save point rather then having to start over.

**Update** Well I'm at a complete loss as to what is happening with the movie mode. As I uninstalled Sacred, installed my original disks, downloaded the full russian install from Ascaron's website did all the fixes and mounted the image. Still do not have any problems running the movies. Sorry guys :erm:

After seriuos testing (including reinstallation of Windows) I found what is causing the problem:

Now if anyone has some ideas (besides uninstaling NERO which works only ain't practical) I'm listening...

P.S. I tried new versions of NERO (6.6.0.1 and 6.6.0.3). I will try older versions but would like some confirmation from other people with same problem (running movies) cause I now that some of my friends have NERO and no problems (I'm guessing they are using older NERO's like 6-6.3)

Very interesting conclusion Govmust, I am running Nero 6.3.120 Ultra Edition. I'll try getting a newer version and see if I can duplicate the problem you're having. That really takes some serious dedication to go through everything that you have to find this out. I wonder what it is about Nero it doesn't like?

Yes, this is absolutely correct. I have installed 6.6.01 and sure enough I get the protection error you've been seeing. I've tried to rename folders, files, and look for something different in the registry but I've had no success. Maybe someone else will? I just uninstalled the Nero 6.6.01 and went back to the 6.3.120 ultra edition works great then.

I just did the trick with the russian update and mini image, and the game starts fine. I have that same problem with the movies though, but disabling them (or clicking ok a lot) and the game starts.

But I have a problem with the fonts though.. There is no text at all in the game!
I can click at the positions where text SHOULD be, and get the correct functions (like start, quit).. but no text.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
I've played with the settings.cfg a lot, removed FONT settings etc..

After playing with lots of config options (and the config tool) it's fixed... but I haven't got a clue which option did it. Oh well, I'll just keep this config file for future installs.

BTW, is there a solution for the copy protection failure when enabling the movies? Except for uninstalling Nero 6.6.0.1 (which I use too regularly to consider an option)

8.b- Choisir l'onglet "Matériel" et cliquer sur "Gestionnaire de périphériques".
8.c- Pour chaque lecteur physique, faire un clic-droit et sélectionner "Désactiver".

9- Lancer le jeu. Une fenêtre DOS s'ouvre et vérifie les fichiers. A la fin une fenêtre s'ouvre pour dire qu'il y a une erreur, c'est pas grave. Relancer le jeu.

Voilà vous pouvez jouer à Sacred sans cd !!! Trop bien.
Seulement une fois que vous ne jouez plus à Sacred, n'oubliez pas de réactiver vos lecteurs physiques.

@ kwark - the reason why you couldn't see anything is because you were missing the script folder for the language the settings.cfg file was pointing to. So far no there has not been a fix for Nero 6.6 though if you go back to 6.3 it works just fine. I guess the choice is yours.

@gold24 - sounds to me you either A. don't have the fake cd image 2 mounted via alcohol 120% / Daemon tools or B. You don't have all the protection emulation enabled.

have you tried run the game not just the main menu? Have you used the fixed exe from gameburnworld?

As i wrote earlier with those files from gameburnworld i cant see graphics in the game, i dont know what it can be, but i look into Debug log and found this

in the debug.txt file... and of course no graphics and it lags like an 5 year old comp.... any help from a pro here? the crack was from gameburnworld.com works fine except from updating (mine says that sacred.exe is flawed and i have to manually put UPDATED = OK in regedit)

btw the crack replaces sacred.exe with a 19 mb exe and it replaces sacred.org and CaF.dll hope this helps cause were close now!

Hmmm....... i get a short glimpse of the seraphim gladiator and wood elf but then they dissapear.... and i found out ALL models in the game arent there.... only scenery not even items in inventory are there... only those blank boxes that most of you know about............ but hey im lucky! most of my inventory has transformed into set items! nwm that my mistake i was wrong....... but i just found out something sorta! i loaded my game and i could run around for a while before all models suddenly dissapeared so probably just a driver that needs to be updated!

i dont think its the crack though... but not the drivers either... it must be some sort of error! if i dont move and nothing moves on the screen (almost dont move) then my models dont dissapear... actually if i dont move then nothing happens to any model... weeeiird.... wish one of the "pros" where here to find out about something!

Can't guarantee the result but I would sometimes get a bad load with the same behavior as you're describing. I read somewhere by renaming the texture.tmp to something like oldtexture.tmp file in the Pak directory it will rebuild it when you restart. When you restart it will appear your system is hanging. You can either wait it out or do a control alt delete and end task on Sacred then restart and will run ok. Like I said I have not tried this out for this new patch since already have a working Sacred.

What so funny? It looks like binder + some strange dll. CAF it is backdoor. Why Sacred.exe call this dll? Why Sacred.exe DO NOT call Sacred.org from this crack archiwum? Maybe Sacred.org is a decoration? No info about this crack on Nforce, no nfo file inside arch. Maybe I am wrong but it looks like lame troyan. I am not sure and I warning.

i did a virus scan on it, it's clean. i did not get to try it however, because the russian trick worked for me, so i don't want to screw it up and have to reinstall everything again. hopefully with some more feedback we can find out if that crack from gameburnworld is real or not. i was hoping this would help the people who could not get the russian trick to work. good luck guys

hello everyone, i have just downloaded the archive that ctq08 posted and copy all files to the Sacred directory, run the game, videos were fine, but where i can choose my character there is no graphics, also when i start the game, the graphics dissapears. Has anybody this problem as me?

I'm pretty far behind, just got the files for ver. 1.5 this weekend and initially I had the same problem as it seems your having. I was able to get the game to play by deselcting the 32 bit graphics option in the config. I'm on here looking for a better solution (was hoping it was fixed in newer patches) but that may get you going in the meantime. I am useing a Nvidia GeForce 5700 with 128 MB ram, not positive the driver version (posting from work), I haven't tried canging the drivers or anything like that just yet myself.

If you follow the instructions above, you have to backup the 2 files from the NEWEST version, and not from the original installation.

Now it works fine without any problems, also with the movies.

Looks like that crack from gameburnworld is for czech version. Those guys at gamecopyworld have something for czech and i'm guesing it is the same thing.

Sacred works with the czech Version crack. Even with the german version if U install the russian sacredplus updates. After that U have to rename the sacred.exe(russian Sf protected)to sacred.org and download the sacred nocd patch fron gcw and only copy over the sacred.exe and the caf.dll than it works good with movies even with nero (I have Nero 6.6.0.0) installed.

I have patched my game with the nocd crack from gameworld. I have the english + version and I have the issue with invisable characters on load and black screen on building a new character. After looking at the file update I can see that the files containing pc and non pc characters is stating wrong version. Any of you nocd creators wanna see if you can fix that issue and see if this nocd will work world wide if the versions are corrected? I am not smart enough to do it myself :-( and would this fix the issue we all seem to be having with the english version??

U need to update your english version with the russian update so that there is Starforce as protection. Thats explained some pages before. Than you rename the sacred.exe to sacred.org(Than you will have the wright version), download the czech nocd from gcw and copy over only the sacred.exe and caf.dll than the game works great

With a clean install, you can update your eng version with the latest Int\eng update. Then you rename the sacred.exe to sacred.org, download the czech nocd from gcw and copy over only the sacred.exe and caf.dll. And the game works. Have been playing it most of the night. So far no problems that I can see. :grin:

Play with the congif settings. Or 1st run the update check b4 you copy over the nocd sacred.exe, I had the same problem when I started to play with the config settings. went back to the basic settings, works fine again for eng, don't see why won't work for german.

I have got a radeon 9000 and the game works well. From where did you got the crack with sacred.old. Use the working crack from gamecopyworld
If the trick works with the russian version and MI works, you could try to use the russian sacred.exe as sacred.org with the crack from gcw. For me it worked too.

And now I have no graphics, the player animations aren't there...

My initial problem (with my files) is that the text next to the item attributes don't show...

for example, if something says:

I will only see:

and it is like that for every item! Quite annoying when I dont know what the color number or white number corresponds to...

Try the russian technique and after the CZECH Crack, this is my only advice.

PS To be more specific, at [2] I use sacred_eng_1.8.2.6_full.exe (127.5M) then sacred_eng_1.8.2.6_retail.exe (10.1M) then copy the 2 files; at [5] sacred_plus_eng.exe (127,6M - Plus" 1.8.10 version) and for the rest, the russian patch and rest of the steps...In the settings.cfg I delete the russian fonts, language to US, the web address to sacredeng movies to 0, and voila...I can see the 6 caracters, the text, etc

One more question:
I mounted this program with daemon tools and it contains (ACROBAT-folder, data3.cab,manual_ru.pdf and MPsetup.exe) so i have mounted this mini img and still dont work :(

Hi,
I just got 2 requests to be more specific about the "process" making Sacred+ to work.I'm aware this will be the 3 or 4th "diary" so appologies. It just came out that I have ENG version. If you're carfeful what/from where patch you use, I think it should work with any version. All patches are from official site except the czech crack from GCW. The ideea is to have the scripts from 1.8.2.6, fool the game there is russian version, to switch from vob5 protection, update the game with russian patch, and crack it with czech crack. Sounds weird ,but....it works

1. installed sacred; used update sacred_eng_1.8.2.6_full.exe from "Sacred 1.8.26 Update" section "This Update is for those that do NOT have Sacred PLUS installed" ; added "sacred_eng_1.8.2.6_retail.exe" from above this section
2. copy the "scripts" directory and settings.cfg file somewhere else
3. uninstall sacred + reboot
4. installed sacred and used the sacred_plus_eng.exe update from "Sacred PLUS Download" section - this is "Plus 1.8.10" version not 1.8.2.6
5. Download the following archive : http://knyaz.info/sitefiles/instALL.zip ; copy the "sacred.exe and install_rus.reg" into game directory (sacred.exe is just 11k size, and it's role is just for the russian patch, after will have some Mb)
6. double click on install_rus.reg [well, until now, you just got yourself the game ready for the russian patch]
7. download the russian patch , http://download.ascaron.com/sacred/sacred_rus_1.8.2.116_full.exe , and install it , everything works with no problem
8. remember you copy a directory "scripts" and a file settings.cfg somewhere else? well, just copy that scripts in game directory, [scripts/us] and delete the "RU" from there
9. now, you have 2 settings.cfg files, the first copied elsewhere [the US] and the second one from russian patch; open both , the russian one with edit, and start to compare the differences: the ideea is that everything what is "RU" to be conversed in "US". So first delete the russian fonts [ except for "fontaa", "fontfilters", "fontpages"] the first 7 rows from top; set the language to "US"; and "Showmovie=0".
10. rename "sacred.exe" to "sacred.org"
11. get the files *.exe and *.dll from the czech crack to your game dir
12. play the game

I get an update check, and at the and the "update failed" message. I must admit a freak out a little. But then i start the game again, and surprise !!!!! it works.

All I did was install Sacred. Then applied the eng/int patch. 1.8.2.6. Then I renamed the sacred.exe to sacred.org and the copied the cracked CHZ files over. Only the sacred.exe and that CAF.dll file

Then when I ran the sacred.exe it dit some update process and at the end it said that update failed. I just ran sacred again and it worked. Strange that it mentioned the update failed but it seems all is working well. No texture probs or such.

Odd, I would have thought that after page 11 this thread would slowly crumble and die. Since the proposed installation through the Russian version seemed to work for so many (pages 10-11).

I tried to read everything since page 11, but I have no idea why suddenly people are working with german and other languages. Did they "fix" the russian patch or so?

I didn't see an answer to my updcheck question. I did see that an no-updcheck.reg had to be used, whereas I didn't. I never experienced any problems though. The update checker does say that some things aren't ok, no clue what though. In other words, the method suggested on pages 10-11 allow me to play with the movies on. I also have a new Nero installed, but I think I installed it after I installed the game (this because I had torched my prev. comp).

Last thing: In a very early topic, the fake boot-cd could not be used for the first Plus version because registry values were rewritten and emulation was turned off. Wouldn't spybot search & destroy help against rewriting registry values? I know with this program installed (and teatimer active), no new registry values can be added. I have no idea about rewriting values tho. Any comments?

I think you're right. I tried Arcanum's method with Win2000 but it didn't work for me. I got the "RestoreLastError" problem that ADG2004 mentioned.

hi, ı used russian trick for 1.8.2.116 version and it worked for me but with a problem. i dont know if somebody write a solution for this but i tried and failed to find myself and in forums.
so my problem is i cant see enough info about a item. for example for a weapons resistance stats it must be poison resistance: 20 but i can only see :20 part . i think it is something about fonts or settings.cfg but i couldnt solve. İf anybody meet this problem and solved it. please share the solution with me. Thanks for now.

I searched the ED2k network and found a file called "Sacred_working_1.8.26+all_files_needed_no_CD_patch _only.rar". It describes a method that's similar to Arcanum's, but has a couple of differences. It worked for me.

Game loads and works with this crack, though it's incompatible with win2k systems.

However, there appears to be a version conflict between the cracked exe and the dedicated server that comes with the game. Since the game runs the dedicated server in the background for a listen server on local lan, you can't connect to your own server on loopback, because the connection from your own client to the ded server is immediately and repeately refused. Though it's a similar story for any external clients too, incorrect version.

Am I the only one who has come across this problem so far?

It'd be ideal if I could find an older version of the ded server that matched the crack, if someone somewhere has it :/

Installed game. Updated using sacred updater. Modified sacred.exe to sacred.org. Copied over the CHZ's sacred.exe and CAF.dll.

maybe ascaron has released another small patch?

When you say it won't do anything, doees that mean when you run sacred.exe, it appears in your process list for a split second, then disappears again? Or does it crash with an error when you run it? One other thing, are you installing off sacred, or sacred+ cds/isos ?

brw, the sacred.org file is just a backup of your oriiginal exe, it doesn't affect the running of your game, and its seems to be included with the crack anyway.

I'm not sure what else could be causing you're problem, the crack mentioned on GCW and from other places seems to work fine apart from playing multiplayer (I still haven't heard anyone comment about that specifically though).

Could someone else using the crack on gcw try hosting or joining a LAN multiplayer game? Assuming the crack is working for you in the first place that is :/

Edit: Btw, after applying the crack, the ingame version appears as 1.8.2.146. Actually the last number seems to be cut off by the edge of the screen. Is this the same as what any other crack users see?

Can those who think the Czech and now English No-CD methods work, try and re-load a saved game. I found while it plays fine after it was initially installed, saved games are often badly corrupted ie. when you load a saved game its often scrambled and the game locks up!

3. Make a copy from these files (as you will need them later):
- global.res (its in the "script" folder)

4. Now deinstall sacred (and make a reboot)

9. Now sacred thinks that you have the russian version installed.
10. Now download the latest russian update (1.8.26) from ascaron.com (klick on "english" on the welcome page). It weights 130 MB.
11. Install the update (it should work just fine).

**- Though my update gave me some errors and said it failed I just restarted again**
12. Now copy over your global.res to "scipt/ru" folder (and the language is back to your original) !
13. Remove all entries, starting with FONT in the settings.cfg (except "fontaa", "fontfilters", "fontpages").
14. Your old settings.cfg is to solve the problem with the movies (see point 17.) for comparison.

** Simply copying your Language folder you backed up to your Scripts folder and copying your settings.cfg you backed up over the new version resolves the movies issue**
15. Now download the Mini Image from russian CD2:

As i told you, the protection is now Starforce 3 (so you maybe have to disable your cd-drives)
17. The last thing is, when you start your game now, make sure, that you tick: "Disable movies" in the starting window (or the config menu).
Because there seems to be a problem between russian and YOUR version. The game will crush, if you dont tick it !

** If you copied your language script and settings.cfg correctly should not have to disable movies**

The game runs fine now !!

I found the instructions very difficult to follow. I believe this may be due to a language barrier. There are 2 sets of painfully layered instructions on the same readme. The original, and the new. Why not do a complete revised version?

During step 6. you dl file instALL.zip. Inside there shoud be couple of files named after different languages which turn any version of sacred into THAT language version. Therefore extract russian files from instALL.zip to your sacred folder and continue to step 7.

multiplayer... someone a few pages above has said this, but there was still no answer related to multiplayer.
The Gameserver.exe is running but i can't join my hosted game, it doesn't appear in the games list.
I've tried different port settings in settings.cfg and Gameserver.cfg, all with the same result

It will take a while to install the game on a friends PC with the Russian trick so we will see if other Players find the Game hosted by my PC.

Well I dunno, installing it normally and then applying the crack seems the easiest way, if I have to run around to all my friends pcs and follow alot of different steps, they're less likely to want to wait till i'm finished and actually play.

Heh, if the latest czech version of sacred is 1.8.2.146, then all we need is a czech dedicated server.exe to replace the one we have, and I'd bet it'd work fine. But I don't suppose any czechs would be reading this forum huh :/

I fixed my problem a friend told me how to mule.....I have the not so legal craked original sacred :P( not original) i'm thinking about buying the game ( i searched the net for a key generaor but no luck :D) but i don't whant to buy the game and then not likeing it on ascaron(bnet :D) can somewone plz make some screen shots of the chat and the characters in a acount i'd like to see then if ill like it ill buy it :) ( i dont think there is a keygenerator anywere on the net :P) and email them to gh3cko_eu@yahoo.com

please people... I've been trying to play this game for so long without it's cd that now that I finally did it, I can't stop to wonder my feat :D

now look... for you guys that didn't yet:
you should pay attention to this:
- if there's a "sacred.org" in the crack you've download, DONT use it. use YOUR "sacred.exe" (original) and rename it to "sacred.org". When I forgot to do this, it caused a strange behavior... the game started and everything, but just when the character and scenery would appear in the screen, it "fades" to black suddenly... I'm sure its another protection, should anyone try just to switch the EXE with another unprotected version.
- NEVER forget to remove the "sacred.exe" from the checklist file, because I think the verification "marks" your game somehow when it fails.

I need help.
I installed the game.
I installed update 1.7 (it installed the iconv.dll)
I installed update 1.8.2.126 (english version) during the update it threaded that the iconv.dll was corrupt and i click ignore.
I applied the Sacredv.1.8.2.126NoCD English crack, unpacked but had an error <Wrong File: Sacred.exe Checksum: 4fe56432e202e839d54b05cdf0233320> i don't know what does it mean, something about sacred.exe missmached.
I loaded a previous saved game and it worked fine. When i wanted to start a new campaigne, when entering the game the screen bacame black.
I opened sacred debug and copied the last rows:

Hi I followed the instructions for the russian trick but when I start my game it's ok up to the char. selection. I don't see any character and when i choose one, the game starts and fades black and i cant do anything else.

Can someone send me a copy of their settings.cfg or just post it here so that i can see if i made a mistake in this. or if anybody knows what i should do?

I finally made it! It works perfectly!
All I did was install the game, patch with the official int/eng version 1.8...
change sacred.exe to sacred.org and copy sacred.exe and caf.dll from the CZECH Crack from GCW and erased the sacred.exe from the chkfiles.

EDIT: I have found out that the version number is correct as the numbers mean....

1 - Sacred 1
8 - Sacred Plus (the 8th main Sacred 1 variant)
14 - regional version
6 - the current patch of Sacred 1.8

That also happened to a friend of mine, he also uses win2k. That's probably the problem. Change to win XP :disturbed

Actualy Ive just fixed it :P googled around and found out its something to do with an API call that occurs with windows 98/me/2k but not xp. You can download a util that patches executables to fix this problem... just search for restorelasterror fixer its by SnD. Works like a charm!

Just for everyones information, I'm sure it will be useful to someone.

Basically all the different language versions of Sacred are the same. The main differences are in the sacred.exe executables and the global.res language files.

If you have a sacred.exe from another language, such as the UK version and put it in the US version, it works fine if you change the registry entries for Sacred to make it think it's a UK version. Just remember to use the UK updates from now on as the game thinks it's a UK version.

The Spanish version of Sacred has no copy protection. None. I think it is the only version of Sacred that has no copy protection.

Good luck with the cracks. Me, I'll just use the non-protected exe file and leave my CDs in the drawer.

Please help! I installed the game and patched it to the latest version 1.8 It worked fine no problems, i then tried to do the no cd crack as listed below. after I do this though the characters in character selection do not show up, and if I can even get in the game then, all I see is the backgroud and shadows where people should be. Please help, what am I doing wrong, maybe i messed something up?????

Their is a way to play Sacred and Sacred Underworld with a backup CD. The way is annoying but it works with a lot of people.

Make a backup of the original with Alcohol and profile ProtectCD5.
Then use this CD and make a backup of this one with profile SecuRom3.1 (first, second and fourth box checked), 1x Speed.
When Alc starts to make the image start Sacred. After some time the game starts. Now cancel Alc.

Not pretty, not nice, but it worked with a lot of pcs... but i probably use the originals, thats too much effort for just a backup.

OK, this is what worked for me.

Using: Sacred - International Version First Release

1. Install as usual.
2. Patch using sacred_enu_1.8.2.6_full.exe from Sacred official website.
3. Rename Sacred.exe to Sacred.org
4. Extract Sacred.exe and CaF.dll from "Sacred v1.8.26 [ALL] No-CD/Fixed EXE" from GameCopyWorld.
5. Run Sacred.exe. A DOS window should appear and cause an error message. Click OK.
6. Run Sacred.exe again. Everything should work fine.

With this method, I am able to install Sacred and Sacred Plus. Movies work, animations work, characters are visible, going into dungeons works. All of this works both with new characters and old characters from saves in previous versions.
