Does anyone have a NO-CD fix for the game Superpower 2?

So far for what I've done to allow it's use with no cd is use 120% alcohol to make the iso and fake the cdrom. Next I disabled my IDE cdroms, it actually tries to read the iso and verify it. It took alot longer for the detection, and it said the cd key was invalid for that disc in the end. I'm going to try installing from iso's and see if it then reads the cd key right. Now if you try this, it will ask you to put it into a different cdrom if you have any ide cd roms. Virtual drives are scsi, which has to do with it and what not. Doing it in windows won't work either, you'll have to unplug them or disable them in your bios.

I'll post back if this works. Specificly why am I doing it? One, I don't like to swap cds. Two, I don't like to scratch originals. Three, and the main reason, I want to play it multiplayer with my roomate :P

there is a nocd crack out that gimprus released its in nforce whether it works or not dont know cause i cant find it...i really need the nocd patch that way me and my bro can play multiplayer and well my dads getting into as well. but if i cant find that crack that means i going have to go out and buy it 2 more times lol....

Wouldnt it be possible to make a mini image of the game cd in order to run superpower 2 without the disc in the drive? Mini image would have to be mounted with daemontools or similar utility. The following is taken from another forum :

"Make image with starforce 1/2/3 profile, get dpm at low speed. Run your favourite iso editing software Ultraiso/Winiso etc. I used ultraiso. Now delete all files from the image. Click save as, save as bin. For reference, the resulting file size should be 68 208 bytes. Trash the cue. Now get original mds, rename the bin to original mdf. Now you have a mini image that's sufficient to make starforce happy consisting of original mds and mdf with all files removed... So starforce won't see that specific date deing read from hdd at the same time... Now do the usual stuff - unplug physically/disable in bios all ide cd/dvd devices, mount the image on alcohol/dtools virtual drive and it'll work.

Actually I read that article aswell. I tried to do it with winiso but I got an invalid image file error. So I've been trying to get ultraiso. I have it in a rar but the archive is passworded. So if anyone has a good rar brute forcer that'd be nice. I used to have one but lost it eons ago.
So if I get the mini to work, I'll be sure to let everyone know.

Yeah, it claims my disk is invalid or not a licensed disk. So maybe I pulled it wrong, but I used the starforce settings with alcohol 120%, except changed the DPM to high and grabbed it at 1x. I've used a mini for toca race driver 2 and it worked however. So I'm not sure. Still haven't tried ultra iso

Okay I used Ultra ISO. Had progress as I could make MDF files. The problem is, it says to use the original MDS file. Well, if I do. It gives me an invalid image error. Why? Becasue the mds file is looking for the 700mb original mdf file. So..I don't know.

i know about the iso for it but u cant use that somehow can u???but anyways if mg forums cant find the nocd crack in a week or less im goin to buy 2 more copies of the game i dont wanna do that but its just to much fun to play by urself lol

I think what AskarBuha means is have you tried creating a mini image by just deleting the disk1.cab from the normal image

That's right =) It was about mini iso of the game... I thought maybe Tyerin deleted too much from the disk, that's why it didn't work =(
Does anybody want to try to create (how said =) mini image? If, of course, that person has the possibility to do that.


PS So, if anyone wants to try, I can email a tutorial that, I think, should help. No this one, which was used by Tyerin 9mine is more complicated ,)

As most of you, I found out that the clone release of Superpower 2 refuses to work no matter what you try. On another forum I read that the new version of Starforce now blacklists all virtual drives. But there is a way around this blacklist. I tried it with Superpower 2 and it worked. So I want to share this solution with all of you.


Solution:

1. Go to your Control Panel

2. Doubleclick on System

3. Now click on the tab labeled Hardware

4. Then click on Device Manager

5. Under System devices you will find many names listed, but the only 2 you need to write down are "PnP BIOS Extension" and "Plug and Play BIOS Extension". "PnP BIOS Extension" belongs to Daemontools virtual drive and "Plug and Play BIOS Extension" belongs to Alcohol 120% virtual drive. Now you can close the Device Manager.

6. Go to your Windows directory and open regedit.exe (Registry Editor)

7. Now find this entry in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\R oot\SYSTEM\

8. Under SYSTEM you will find numbers like "0000" "0001" "0002" "0003" etc etc. Now click on any of this numbers and look for "DeviceDesc". "DeviceDesc" contains a description for the device. If you just have Alcohol 120% virtual drive installed you have to find the number that contains the "DeviceDesc" with the text "Plug and Play BIOS
Extension" next to it. And if you just have Daemontools virtual drive installed you have to find the number that contains the "DeviceDesc" with the text "PnP BIOS Extension" next to it. If you have both programs installed it speaks for it itself that you have to find both numbers.

9. Now to the important part. If for example the number "0002" contains the "DeviceDesc" with the the text "PnP BIOS Extension" next to it, you rightclick on the number 0002. Next you click on "Permission...". A window should appear. Under the header "Security" you first have to click on "SYSTEM". Then a menu with the name "Permissions for SYSTEM" appears below. In this menu you will see the the text "Read" with two choices next to it (Allow or Deny). Click on "Deny" then on OK and then on Yes. Do the same for the number that contains the "DeviceDesc" with the text "Plug and Play BIOS Extension" next to it. If you have done everything correctly "PnP BIOS Extension" and "Plug and Play BIOS Extension" should not not appear any more in the Device Manager under System devices.

10. After you have done this you can play Superpower 2 by mounting the mini image. By the way dont forget to disconnect your CD or DVD-drives or to disable them in the Bios. And if you have any other virtual drives other than Alcohol or Daemontools installed, just uninstall them!

11. Enjoy another bunch of Starforce protected games! ;)

How do I make the correct mini image? Because I tried both ways (renaming the BIN and using the original MDS, and just saving as MDF and MDS), but it still doesnt work, in the first case he still asks for cd, in the 2nd he said cd is not valid or something ....

I did all the registry stuff and no physical drives present, what did I do wrong :s

hmf, i tried to play around with the exe files... after i came home from my girlfriend, i tried to copy the exe file from the demo game of superpower 2, and put it into the real game folder.. renamed the "Play superpower 2 demo" to sp2, and executed it, i went down stairs for some food, and when i came back up - i was in the superpower 2 menu, could start single player ,multi player and all the other stuffs from the real version. I tried to start a singleplayer game, but it just kept saying Starting.....(prolly cuz my firewall was activated and i couldnt connect) so i quitted to start over again, and now it dosent work.. im just writing this, if some of you could try play with this and see if you can get it to work proparly.. still hoping for a no-cd crack though :) be back if i find of of some more guys

I just have to know how the mini-image is created exactly, because there is the problem here.

And the non-patched sp2 game has problems with Norton AV and firewalls (notice the patch for the version of the game that isn't still available in UK/Europe)

I am having trouble with this step... I Believe this procedure is done on Windows XP right? I have Windows 2000 and the right-click-menu does not contain "Permission...". Does anyone know how to do this step in Windows 2000? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong? :confused:

OK, sorted it. For anyone who is having my same troubles, you have to

1. launche regedt32.exe and not regedit.exe

2. Navigate to the key posted by Oingo Boingo

3. From the menus at the top of the window choose Security\Permissions ecc.

Well, I have CloneCd image. I used the MI mini-image, and it looks everything is allright, but:
when it strarts loading, it freezes, and the Johus client sais: Device lost...
What could be the problem?

Well, now it works. I had to delete all the mpeg files in the Sp2 directory. I think I will buy the game if it will be avaliable in my country...

l appiled the regedit switches that was required in the mini image readme file, all good except couldnt disable the cd drive. l found this piece of software on torrents called star++++_de, its in german so couldnt understand it, anway l played around with some of the programs in the star++++ directory and got the cd drive disabled, comes back when you reboot. When l went to start up the game is asks for the cd key to check the disc, image mounted, l entered the one that l found, on here and in the sp2 download, then it goes through the checks but says the key isnt valid for the cd. one step at a time, but god this one is gonna be hard unless more keys are posted.
