I was surfing the net when this tool bar icon appeared in internet explorer, I didnt want it so I went to add/remove and removed it. (SIDEFIND) then everything no longer worked, all program icons explorer I mean EVERYTHING!
even most dos commands didnt work so I couldnt even replace files, basicly I lost over a year of download stuff and could only reinstall windows98se over my existing folder. after doing this I could then format c:, then a few hours of installing everything again.

I warn all people who happen to get sindfind on there computer DO NOT ADD?REMOVE IT!, instead run a spyware remover prog.

hope this saves a few others from my major prob.

This is yet another reason that it is pointless to use Internet Explorer... Then again, you are running Windows 98, which is just asking for trouble.

Evidence #3

Look how you belittled the guy for using Windows 98. Not very nice and not his fault, and all windows platforms are open for exploits not just 98.

98 is far more susceptible to exploits than 2000/XP, cold hard fact.

wow i didnt know that BHO's can be so nasty..

damn ad-ware, its becoming just as bad as viruses...

pays to be very careful now days in what you download/accept while browsing website.... even programs like ad-aware and spybot s&d are often useless against some adware, only Hijackthis seems to be the most powerful against them (esp. bhos)

Whatchu running Schick? I never had any probs with 98se, when I kept up the security updates and ran Spybot Search & Destroy. The only secure OS used to be Macintosh and thats cuz no one uses it, now even they have probs!

Giant AntiSpyware was the only thing I found to completely get rid of Sidefind. You can download it for free, and use it for free for 15 days. I loved this program so much that I bought it, and that is saying a lot because I am not one to usually buy programs. Here is the link to Giant AntiSpyware. http://www.giantcompany.com?PID=A23392 Copy and paste it if it doesn't show up as a link in this message. Adaware will NOT get rid of Sidefind as some people state it does. Nor do a lot of other programs, and it's next to impossible to get rid of all the files on your own. I tried everything on my own to get rid of Sindfind. I got rid of some of it, but that evil little sfbho.dll file would not die for anything. Download Giant AntiSpyware. The program does everything for you and restores anything you deleted by mistake that you shouldn't have. It's very easy to use. I can't recommend it enough to get rid of Sidefind and other spyware programs.

unfortunately you would only lose if u tried to sue them as you agree to it in the licence agreement. it is however about time they changed the law so it made a point of telling you a program contains adware or that adware should be banned outright.
