Trying to run mame as 1 os and xp as another, with selection at startup

I imagine you are all sick of me --- but i need help. Im tring to run advmame on one drive and windowsxp on another. My thought is to designate one or the other to initialize on start up. Like set up mame to run from the moment I power on, and then be able to shutdown compleatly, then startup again and be able to enter something in dos or bios to run xp. but no matter what I still want it to apear to to be a mame cab, but be able to get to xp oneway or another. this may be stupid but hey why not. we will see what happens?

try editing the boot.ini in WinXP? If you set another OS to select a menu should pop up when you turn on the computer, although I don't know that might just be if you're trying to boot two different versions of Windows

Make a windows 98 boot disk, and edit the autoexec.bat to load up your mouse driver, sound card port intialization and offcourse to run mame. BUT, if advmame isnt a dos program then you will have to reboot into windows anyways.

Most likely if you want to boot into MAME then your gonna also have to edit the Master Boot Record and then make a partition for MAME unless your running it on another hard drive. I'm not even sure how you'd do it from there. But good luck trying.
