mame--2000me help!

I just started to setup mame on an old comp. and I need help. I have an old arcade cabinet Im trying to mame and I want to know the best way to make it be as real as I can, (no windows). I would like mame to start up on power up. If you can help, please do.

Depends what game you want it to run. I built a dos machine just to see what happened, and I could only get mame 0.36 to work properly on all the games. The later mames would only run some games and have video problems with the rest. To make it automatic put the commands into autoexec.bat (you need to know about dos)


If you're talking about windows, you can put mame into the startup group, and all versions of mame should work (I would recommend windows 95 or 98).

I know alittle about dos, but I cant even get mame87 to run in dos right now -- (bad command or filename). Yes I am not the best at computers but I learn quick. This is really p-ssing me off. Thanks for the help though.
