I have tried using the Launch command with multiple games, all of them being HL mods however, and none of them seem to work. I launch, go to multiplayer, and it tells me that it is out of date. So I say whatever and click the go online to check for the new update. It searches and says that I have an out-of-date version but it doesn't have any updates. I have version 1.1.1.0 and everywhere I look it says that that is the most recent. This is where the confusion sets in. Any help is appreciated.

Hm. Have the naming styles changed? When I see friends play it says 1.6, however all I can find is 1.5. What's going on!?

lol. did you see the info from xfire site. it says there it's the latest version. released last Oct. 7.

Ah, heh, miscommunication. I ment the latest version of Half-Life, not XFire. I have the latest of XFire.
Edit: Ok, finally figured it out. :)
