It looks like you have corrupted the operating system, you can either try to reapir by using the Recovery Console system, or you will have to re-install XP again. If you choose the latter you will loose all your information

XP Recovery Console:

Just put the XP operating system disk into your drive, boot up using the XP disk then when the option comes up on the screen, press R to use the Recovery Console, you then will have a DOS screen appear then just type what you want, in order to recover your operating system ;)

Right then, after you boot from the XP disk, you will have a screen appear like this, and select "R" at the Welcome Screen.

The screen will switch to black and you will be asked which installation to log on to. If you only have one installation you will press "1". Remember that numlock is off at this time.

Next you'll be prompted to enter your Admin password. By default it is created blank so just press Enter

At the C:\Windows command prompt type "Help" for a list of commands you can use.

I don't know if you have tried the following but it might be a good idea if you haven't.

When you start your computer (without the xp cd in drive) keep tapping the "F8" key, after a few seconds you will be put into a boot menu. Fropm that menu select the "Last known good configuration" and try to start windows. If that doesn't work then reboot again and try the above but this time try "safe mode" if you get into the computer in safe mode then it will ask you if want to run "system restore". If you can run system restore then select a restore point that is the closest date before you had these problems, eg problems started on the 5th of october then find a restore point that is on the 4th or 3rd if you can.
