Hello All,
I recently bought Counter Strike Condition Zero primarily as a game to play at home as a LAN game without the internet, but my problem is that I don't know how to get to computers to play a LAN game.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanx heaps

There are a few different ways. The easiest way is to get a crossover cable and just hook up the two computers. Or you could use a router/hub. Just connect the computers to the router/hub. After that it depends on what hardware/software you are using. It should be all automatic and all you need to do is install two different games on two different computers, start a server, and play. Emphasis on the different. You must buy as many games as you have computers. Installing the same game on multiple computers is illegal.

What I meant was that I've installed the game on two seperate computers, they are connected but where in the program do I start a new LAN game?

There should be a multiplayer option in the main screen. Then something like Start Game or Host Game.

Hm, well, I don't have the game so I can't point it to you exactly, but that seems very odd that there would be no multiplayer. You may need to get steam.

Yeh, Steam came with it so I tried to use it and the first thing it does is updates which takes a long time and after that, hopefully something will happen. Thanxs heaps for help anyway, it is greatly appreciates. Maybe someone who has Condition Zero will spot this Thread and guide me in the right direction.

... Confusion sets in. Was that not the exact same thing you just said? Did I misinturpret something you said?

Ok, so I installed Steam, and did what it said to do (upgrade and spend a ++++ load of time on the internet) but it still doesn't work. It gets to the screen where it says "loading Counter Strike" and then just stops (this is after steam has found the LAN server that I want to join)
Any ideas?
P.S Why should you have to use the internet for a LAN game?

you shouldn't, and maybe your firewall (if you have one) is forbidding cs:cz to connect

Ok heres what ya need to do. I was new to the game also until I did some fiddling. At the main game screen hit the "~" button. Then a console will drop down, and type in "connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" where the x's are the computers IP address that is hosting the game. so basically have your other computer make a custom game, set it up how you would like it, do what I said before on the other one, and off you go.

If that doesnt work, assign IP addresses to both of your computers and it should take off! Any questions email me at JonesSoda6@hotmail.com, Ill be online tonight probally downloading new maps for CS:CZ all night:) :car:

Steam is absolutly worthless unless you are playing over the net, if its just the home LAN, do as above and ejoy the game. Im deployed overseas and me about 20 other Army guys waste our time on this game and I wouldnt have it any other way!
