HL² Release Candidate???

I posted my message here... Because I know most of you in this "Thread" are smarter than anywherelse! I want somebody explain to me what means RC (candidate release) to Vivendi for Half Life 2??? And What means the "gold" step for a game coming out soon!????

I think release candidate means that the game is in beta version (not finished yet and stills in construction) and gold I think is when game version is finished and ready to ship in the stores

Release candidate is what VALVe considers a complete version of Half-Life 2. They send it off to Vivendi, and Vivendi tests it to make sure that there are no big bugs. If it is approved, it then becomes Gold status.
