OK. The best selling PC game of all time has finally released the much anticipated sequel.

Everyone & their mother is waiting for the NO CD crack so that they can play without the damned CD in the drive.

There are MANY fakes floating around, so please BEWARE of what you download!

In order to keep the forum from being flooded with 1,000 different threads asking for the crack, I've decided to make this thread & stick it.

Any other threads made regarding a crack for this title will be deleted! If you are too lazy to read through this thread & find the answer to your problem... too bad for you!

Man, what a long day of searching for NO-CD's for Sims 2. I found one that was a virus.. and another was an Mp3 file... go figure.
I'm going to give some faith to these forums and just hope a working No-Cd comes out soon.

I know much about hacking and cracking but this was simple, if you have the original WHICH YOU SHOULD HAVE! get the latest version of Alcohol (1.92) and Alcoholer 4.2 set it to copy Safedisk V2 not Safedisk 2, its called Safedisk V2 and copy, now some people will say it wont work, but it depends on the drive ALL CD/DVD drives are differant some have the capabilites to do it and some dont all of the LITE oN cd drives that are 52x and above will NOT read it liteon does not make the 52x and above they are made by the crap company goldstar, the three drives that definatly will read it are
LITE ON CDRW 32x - 48x, Sony DVD reader any after 2002, Sony DVD RW +- Dual Layer burner

emulation is never perfect, like it take 2 or 3min just to lunch the game & sometime make the game crash. It's why we want a crack. copy protection is good for nothing, less than make game unstable sometime

Yes, the NOCD patch works, but when I start the game, the "EA Games" logo doesn't dissapear completely and it stays there for a while (about 30secs). Then the game starts normally, but it's slow. I can't build anything or use paint on walls for example, but everything else is ok. I'm using the multilanguage version (french).

Same thing with me as well. The game runs as it should, but whenever I try to build a house, the game doesn't responed on the mouse movement. In fact, I can not place a wall on the map. Anybody has a fix in order to fix this porblem??? Thanks in advance.

MadDog666 + Mr Brownstone do you guys have the multi lang version? I dunno if it is the crack or the version of the game. Like in build mode u can't even put windows in but u can select them and move them.. The crack i noticed is like 1 mb smaller than the original. I think i'm jus gettin suspicious prob jus my version.

Well are there any other versions that have this prob? I think the mini game in the install was a good idea. I tried un installin it and re installin it nothing diff happened. So stuck with out building unless someone can come up with a new crack or a solution to this prob.

Just for the record, the original Sims2.exe is in the compressed.zip in the TSBin folder on CD4 of the game, incase you forgot to back it up etc

Apparently that crack DOES NOT WORK 100% fully so that would explain the problems that are arising with the use of it.

Hi guys:
I am guilty of helping to spread around that crack. (Check the .NFO file, I'm in it for some reason) Sorry for the trouble- the person I got it from and myself are NOT an official release group.

HERE'S THE DEAL:
The NO-CD that I posted earlier is only working with the Alcohol release of Sims2 according to a few people I have talked to... any other release is more than likely going to run into problems with building WALLS / FLOORS / PAINTING / FENCES ... etc

I recommend either waiting for OR finding a new No-CD.. that is unless you just don't want to build anything.. but c'mon! This is the Sims2.. we all want it to work perfectly.

If you have any luck at all finding a NO-CD or FIX/Crack .. PLEASE let us know thru these forums- or try #thesims2 on Efnet

Hello all. I just registered here when I saw this thread. I installed the Sims 2 early yesterday and have been looking for a No-CD patch since then. GameBurnWorld put one up today but the file is corrupt and can't extract. I will be checking here often and will let you know if I find a working patch.

Its exactly like the old one. The crack from there and other sources does work but not 100% which is why everything else works except for the building side. A lot of people have got this problem and the only solution to it is to either use the old .exe (and if you haven't backed it up it is on disc 4*read from earlier post) or wait for a new crack to come out.
People who had problems have the multi-language version, like i do and i can't build.. which sucks.

If you find a new crack or found a way around this, post it so ya let us all kno!

I encountered this immidiate crash too, but after a reinstall and using the DTs, all is OK.

Yeh, that is the crack that doesn't 100% work, the guy who posted it admitted it isn't 100% working.
The only problems i have with it is the building mode, i can buy, play, create etc. but when i want to build something i can't.

For all you people saying Alcohol can't run the game... maybe you should try again.

On two different PC's, both with Alcohol 1.9.2 and custom installs giving the SCSI devices different names to the defaults, Sims2 runs fine from Alcohol!
I.e. in device manager, go to SCSI and RAID controllers. See what name your Alcohol device has got. I called mine ALCOSOF2. (The other device is called ALCOSOF1 but I don't think thats listed in Device manager)

I believe you will need to uninstall, reset, and install Alcohol again, but choose advanced/custom install to choose your own device names.
Hope they helps you all... else I have no idea why it runs fine on Alcohol on mine :)

OK for the record here :) Sims 2 Uses SafeDisc 3.20.020 for it's protection tool. The No-Cd fixed exe/Patch out now only kills part of that protection.

SafeDisc 3 family has this nice collection:

Needs Cd - Checks this by an Error pattern. Basicly looks for bad spots on the disk in certian locations.

Needs Encrypted Key File , These would be the 2 .tmp files on disk one in the root . usally named 0000000000289.tmp and such.

Both the above have been fixed . This next one is what is killing the curent crack .

If the exe is modified in any way the game will cripple it's self . Now this can cause loads of fun things that the developers choose. I have seen it range from not being able to shoot , looping cut scenes , always crashing after 15 mins, having save disabled , or not being able to use build mode.

That is what is causing the problem and happens to be a pain to remove most of the time . So give the people fixing this some time. They are spending days in a pissed off stae trying to figgue it out. :P

Yes you can burn it. Just make sure that you set your burner to ignore/write read errors. You will be able to make a back-up this way but it will still need a no-cd if you lose the original.

Its not that simple. Many have tried to burn it and have failed. The only person I know who successfully made a backup of it is someone who owned a old SCSI-2 Plextor 8x burner. I have tried three times to make a backup of the first CD with both my LiteOn 48x12x48x and Plextor 708A drives to no avail.

I ABSOLUTELY CAN'T STAND GAMES THAT FORCE ME TO RUN WITH THE CD IN THE DRIVE hence the reason I grab NoCDs. Maxis had the gawd a*s balls to say in their forums that they anticipated NoCDs would come out and thus allowed the BUILD OPTION to be disabled if the EXE was compromised! WHAT BULLOCKS! So you give the finger to us paying customers who bought the game and tell us to go F ourselves by sabotaging the game so we can at least run without the CD? Idiots! Thats great PR guys!

GET A F*ING CLUE and do what Digital Extremes did with UT2004, upon the release of their first patch they remove the CD check as a thank you to us the paying customers. NOW THAT I LIKE -> Devs/Pubs that actually know what the gaming community is all about. WE'RE NOT ALL CROOKS! STOP TREATING LIKE WE ALWAYS ARE!

Anyway, I'm just bloody sick and tired of all this Richard Ashcroft-like CD protection *cough* SF3 *cough* >>gaG!<< crap as it just further alienates the buying community. I'm getting more reports that people won't even download SF3 protected PLAYABLE DEMOS due to that wh*re-of-a-protection scam running as hidden device drivers. I honestly don't blame them!

I personally would like to thank the administrators for not putting up a crappy no cd crack. I am sure a lot of people would download it and potentially not back up there originals and then they would be in a load of trouble. The people on the threads have given you ways to play the game i.e. mounting the original cd. So, either you can quit your +++++ing and wait or go buy the damn game.

The building tutorial and the building mode do not work with the no cd crack.

What I do/do not have in my home is not any concern to anyone here. Even IF I were to own any illegal software, I certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to say so in a forum where it is AGAINST THE RULES. (You didn't read our rules, did you)

Yes People.. Use a little "common sense".. The request for the NoCD is for those who BOUGHT the game, THE SIMS2. Those of us who would like "THE CHOICE" to at least have the game run faster without wearing down both the original CD and the drive itself. Further, the game actually runs faster without needlessly accessing the drive. Someday publishers willl acknowledge this when the "learned consumer" really starts figuring it out.

To anyone trying to figure out how to play with an image of the first cd, I managed to do it and can confirm how to do it.

At first it gave me the "Virtual Drive program detected" message, so I messed around with both Alchool and Daemon tool without success, then I figured it. For some reason, what it didn't like was Clone Cd. I don't know why, as my version of it has no virtual drive option, but oh well...

I uninstalled Clone CD and mounted the image in Alchool, and when I started the game it didn't see the cd. I tried it in the newest version of Daemon tool, and it worked. I'm emulating the protection, by the way.

So, in short:
Clone Cd installed = Will give you the "Virtual Drive" message.
Alchool = The cd won't be detected.
Daemon tools = Will work.

Now you can play the game without cds, have fun!

mys sims 2 is an spanish /multilanguage cds :D
So until th nocd crak work , use the daemon tool an colone cd to make image . and take care of your new cds it too expincive to use it with game ;-)

I've been searching for some way to play without the cd's for like 6 hours and am starting to get a bit flustered. Saw your thread here and your solution, but i'm having some problems with it... Ok so i've got my cd, i make an image using clone cd, uninstall clone cd, put on daemon and load up the image. I get an error "ModName:~df394b.tmp"... so i figure i'd google it and see what i get. Apparently it has something to do with safe disk and burning/emulation software, so i remove all the other burning software from my computer in hopes that it might solve my problem... no. So i go looking around for some more options and someone had the same problem, but reinstalling daemon worked for them... doesnt work. I try re-installing The Sims2... doesnt work. I've tried just about everything that i can think of or that i've seen anyone else try to get this thing running w/o the cd in the drive. So unless theres something brutally obvious that i'm overlooking please help me!

running daemon tools 3.47 on safedisc emulation, clone cd is not installed, the original cds are not in any drive and the .exe is the original one from the install(i've even tried replacing it with the other original from cd 4). Now I want to know how to make the Sims 2 work with either Alcohol or Daemon or Gamedrive or whatever program instead of using the bs crack thats out now. I bought it and are wondering what program someone has used and what settings it was on and what kind of image you made on the computer. I currently have a sony cd-rw 215e if that means anything and am running win xp pro. if anyone has done this could they please post cause i cant seem to get it working. thanks

Ok, here is an easy way to play with everything working...

Download that stripped down image of CD1, then mount it in Daemon Tools (or Alcohol if it works for you), with SafeDisk emulation on.

Then you can play with building working perfectly using the original Sims2.exe

This cut-down image is very small so you dont have to have the whole CD1 image on your PC.

Then you can play with building working perfectly using the original Sims2.exe

The problem i have is that daemons opens it as a folder and not as a cd, so the splashscreen doesnt load, any help will be appreciated.

no youre not, you need the original sims2.exe and place that in TSBin.

nevermind on that i got it to work i remembered seeing image drive in nero so i fired nero express up and clicked over to expert turned on image drive.i had to rename my image file to .iso but that was it the game fired right up.

Now I want to know how to make the Sims 2 work with either Alcohol or Daemon or Gamedrive or whatever program instead of using the bs crack thats out now. I bought it and are wondering what program someone has used and what settings it was on and what kind of image you made on the computer. I currently have a sony cd-rw 215e if that means anything and am running win xp pro. if anyone has done this could they please post cause i cant seem to get it working. thanks

buck up the the original cd (cd 1) either with alcholl ,in option safedisk 2/3., or with clone cd ( in this case unistall clone or the prog don't run.
the with daemon tool , the last version 3.47 mount the image and in the emulation use safedisk.
it will run . al least in my pc , i spend all the night playing . i have multilanguage (spanish) version.
if you don't have the original cd . or with a buckup cd il will not run.
i have an amd 64 3200+ with 1 gbs ram
i could play and use other prog . so it will run in any pc i think : :blacgrin

When i try it with Daemons all it does is open the folder with all the files in it, i tried opening it with alcohol 120% and it didnt work either same thing just opened the folder.

Look like you messed up your backup. Try either using the desktop shortcut or browsing the cd for the setup/autorun file, if it's there. It might work.

Using Daemon tools works, I just tried it out. If it opens as a folder, don't worry about it. Just run the shortcut from your start menu, or run the original, (Non-Patched) .exe in your Sims 2 folder. Aparently the only thing you have to give up with this method is CloneCD, which in my opinion is a fairer trade than the build mode in Sims 2.

I got rid of Alcohol and CloneCD, used Daemon Tools, mounted the CD 1 image, worked perfect.

didn't even need the 'smaller' rip.

I finally got it working with a rip for the original cd... but just leaving the image around felt like a waste of space, especially for those of you who have the DVD version! still having trouble actually making a image of my cd's on hard drive. I have the english/spanish version which is sold in US. And when I run Alcohol with safedisc it comes up with read errors and such, alot of them. Now Im wondering if this is normal, what program should I use to make the image and what FORMAT should I use like ccd or iso or whatever. I am guessing that daemon tools 3.47 is working for most people so I got that, i just dont know how to make the image to mount it.

You have to uninstall clone cd.

I have no problem mounting the CD1 image on the Daemon Tools, but the MINI-IMAGE (

Yeah, im gettin the insert cd and cd/dvd emulation error when i try to start it up. Also i have gotten rid of just about everything on my system trying to find what could be doing the emmulating (got rid of clone cd, daemon tools, nero, my dvd watching program, divx, and all kinds of others), plus i've reinstalled windows. On mon i'm gonna reformat and give that a shot. Getin torqued cause i bought the game on wed and haven't been able to touch it till today and now it won't run. Right now even the nocd no building patch will be an improvement for me. Also the mini iso link is down.

For those people getting the error message about emulation detected, the solution is this:

You have to install CloneCD (im sure you know that), but after that, you have to go to the registry and check for the following keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elaborate Bytes\CloneCD\Settings
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Slysoft\CloneCD\Setting s

If either of those two are present, you will get the error when starting the game. You can either rename or delete the keys, and that should fix it.

Im new to Daemon Tools so I don't really know what I'm doing. I downloaded the zip file and I have opened DT with all options and emulation off, then I go to the Virtual CD/DVD ROM bit..find the file from the zip file..and it loads up the folder of The Sims CD 1 I think. What file do I click next? Also, is there a way to just make an icon that I can double click whenever I want to play sims 2 without loading up DT and making sure all the stuff isnt checked?

I have tried double clicking 'setup' and 'AutoRun' but all that happens is a little black DOS window appears then suddenly vanishes and nothing else happens. Any help?

Elaborate bytes was still in the regedit.exe for some reason and after i deleted it the game booted up perfect. You might want to go to gamefaqs and a few other places and spread that around cause i think there were others with that too.

I installed this 13.3mb patch from gamecopyworld.com last night because I've been having problems loading from the cd. It just sits at the splash screen for a good 2 or 3 minutes and then that goes away and it sits a little longer, then it finely loads. All the while the computer is freezing and stuff. very little to no cd access during this time. So anyway, I didn't like having to wait for it to load and thought a no cd crack would fix it. Plus, I don't like having to fish out my cd every time I wanna play. The crack fixed the loading problem, but makes build mode not work. I've already made several sims and played for a night or two on end, so I'd like to not have to uninstall. However, I can no longer use build mode.

Does anyone know of a way to get the original Sims2.exe file without having to reinstall the game? Does someone have it and could email it? I didn't back up the original. if you have it, please email it to shapelessplanet at gmail.com

Well if you have a DVDr/CDR drive some drives will let u play game with CD1 loaded, as long you have ignore media type option ticked in Alcohol 120% emulation options. My old 12x burner loaded sims 2 with cd1 in :).

When and if you mount the image, you open the sims2.exe and it works. It worked beautifully. You can even apply certain other patches, that work well with this fix. Thanks goes again to the one with the idea originally.

I think the MOST SIMPLY WAY of playing Sims 2 without CD is that way:

Insert original CD1 into drive, start Alcohol 1.92 1705 (newest). Make a image of CD1 with Safedisc 2/3 option, enable quick error jumping, then Alcohol creates the images but there appear many errors, but they dont matter.

Then start Daemon Tools (newest), enable Safedisc Emulation in Daemon Tools Tray. Then mount the created image with Daemon Tools and the game starts up with an error "No disc insert, bla, bla". Just press "Cancel" 3 times or more times, than the game starts. The next time you start there will be no more errors on startup.

And now have fun and wait for a crack!

WTF! The mini image is working. It doesn't need a backup of the original disk.

You just have to mount it using Alcohol (I don't have daemon tools installed), or daemon tools, or you can try other image emulation software.

Although I agree with you olaf, I still think that you need to go back to first grade and learn how to spell.

Heres how I did it:

- Got the mini file and loaded it with daemons.
- Burned the CD 1.
- Went to my computer with the mini loaded and was able to double click The Sims 2 Icon that was in my real drive.

I spent all day yesterday trying to make it work that by night I was just clicking anything and trying anything, maybe it doesnt make any sense but thats how I got it to work.

When you install Daemon Tools, right click on the Taskbar icon. Choose "Virtual CD/DVD Rom", "Device ???", after that you can see there "Mount Image." Select the file from the mini image (it's the mds file). LOLZ, why do you need to burn the mini image, it's only 156kb.

If you're using alcohol make sure you have at least one virtual devices enabled(the virtual drive would be the dvd-rom when you open Windows Explorer).

Anyway, right click on the mini image (mds file) then select mount.
You can also right click on the virtual drive letter then select mount image.

I've been trying to use the mini file mount to load up my sims 2. I keep getting the error that the emulation is in use or something of that nature. The splash screen loads for like 15 seconds and then bleh--error.

I've been trying to use the mini file mount to load up my sims 2. I keep getting the error that the emulation is in use or something of that nature. The splash screen loads for like 15 seconds and then bleh--error.

I'm using alcohol 120%... I know there was stuff about deleting CloneCD files, but I don't have/never have had that program. Anyone else experiencing similar aerrors? For those of you who have been successful using alcohol, what were the settings for your virtual drive and for the emulation part?

regarding your Direct-X problem: Other people have had that too. try downloading DX 9.0C from Microsoft. the be safe, try removing all DX drivers before installing 9.0C again. And then finally re-install the game.

Listen, I dunno if there was a same situation posted before, sorry if it was, but I read that thread a bit and didn't find any. Don't have time to read the whole thread, so please help me if someone knows the solution...

I had 4 game CDs in mdf/mds files, but then converted all MDF to ISO's with WinISO, because they take fewer space. And also cause I had old version of Daemon Tools which couldn't mount mds files.

Then I downloaded a newer version of Daemon Tools (3.46) and installed the game from 4 cds. Now when I mount CD1 in DT, I can run the game and it works fine in Neighborhood Selection screen. But when I choose a neighborhood, I have glitchy graphics, with some textures missing, and that's not the main problem...
The main problem is that when I start to load a family, the game crashes with an error "The application has crashed. The application will be terminated".
Does anyone know how to solve this kind of problem? Is it because I should've used original mdf/mds instead of converting them to iso?

Also tried mounting CD1 with Alcohol 120%, didn't change anything.
And I've also used the miniCD mdf file, it didn't help.

Some system info:
P4 2.6 Ghz
512 Mb RAM
GeForce4 Ti4200 128mb
DirectX 9.0c
WinXP Pro (without SP1 I think)
Using Daemon Tools 3.46 (Safedisc checked)

however i did have some dificulties 2 start with (u know, understanding what does what) and so i thought as a thank you, i would post a "sims 2 for dummies" sort of thing.

so this is the (extremely simplified) steps i took 2 get this game running:

first i installed the game onto my hard-drive (DVD version).

then i searched on google for "daemon tools". this came up with their official web page (i think). from that site i downloaded the program daemons tools (top of the downloading list btw). i then extracted it 2 my hard-drive and installed it. it apperaed as a thumbnail picture at the bottom of the screen (lighting picture). that is now set up and ready 2 go.

i then when 2 a few pages back on this thread and found the link 2 the download of the mini image. it was posted by a person with a picture of the crabman off futurama, and is says "the mini image is HERE" and the word here is the link 2 download the mini image. once that had downloaded, i extracted it 2 my desktop.

now i right clicked on the thumbnail picture representing daemon tools and went 2 "emulation > safedisk" then i right clicked on iot again and went 2 the top option which is "virtual cd/dvd rom". from there i went 2 device > mount image > browse and opened the file that i had just extracted onto my desktop. this opens up a folder (this is normal). thsi is simply fooling ur computer into thinking that u have the cd/dvd in the rom. keep that window open and go and find the sims2.exe on ur hard-drive.double click on it and it should work perfectly.

BTW: my computer does not have clone cd installed or anything like that so read the previous posts 2 find out what 2 get rid of if this doesn't work.

The cursor turns into the hourglass for a few seconds and that is all i get. I get no error messages or anything and i have unistalled everything like nero/clonecd etc. I know the cd's are not faulty as the game loads up on my wifes laptop. I have tried the image file daemon trick but the same problem occurs. I have downloaded the nocd patch which has the non working build mode and that works a treat!!
I know that a working crack may be a while coming but does anyone know why and how i can get the game to load up just from the cd as it should?

i extracted both sims2.exe and the patch into c:programs/eagames/thesims2/tsbin.
and it still didn't work. a small window with an X appears and says "error".
it might be the patch. b/c when i click on patch it states that it can't locate sims2 and they are in the same folder!

Guys I just wanted to let you know I have seen a No CD crack on a well known bit torrent site (it's initials are SN!) usualy I would post a link but I'm not getting in trouble with the mods here as that Revelation guy scares me! But anyway the crack is supposed to have the build option sorted out and working fully and properly.

How many drives do you have to set the daemon devices to? I set it to just one (it came up as a G drive) and then I mounted the mini image to it (my file is named The Sims 2 Mini-CD Image.rar, I got it from a previous post) You said that a folder would open, and one is not opening...any ideas? when i got the sims 2 working, i set it 2 one drive. it should come up as the drive that u installed it from. i.e. for me it was E: (my dvd drive) as that is where i installed it from.

I'm slightly confused about the process of mounting, running the "new" .exe file, etc. I'm using Alchohol 120%; I've mounted the MDS file to the virtual G drive. Like Enormous Ego, I've got the game installed on my E drive. Now where do I go from here? I've opened the G drive through My Computer, but the files there will only open with errors--Not a valid Win32 application. My E drive tells me "The drive is not ready...yadda yadda yadda"

I'm missing something huge here and I'm sorry if this has been mentioned in the thread. It's probably something so obvious it didn't need mentioning.

After my installation fiasco involving the discs I'm cautious to use them to play. Should I just go in the corner and weep?

Ninja edit: When I'm opening the "exe" file in drive G it sends me to the "Open with" drop down menu of programs. Same response when I open the EA games folder where it is installed.

Don't use Alcohol, use Daemon Tools. I have the same problem with alcohol, it's working at the beginning and then poof!!! I have to use Daemon Tools to make it work.

look i don't have a problem with running the game per se, i've mounted the mini image with dameon tools n all, but for some reason i can't use cheats! i thought it might have something to do with the build mode not working, but i CAN build, so this to me seems like the game should be working fine (as i am using the mini image and original EXE). when i press ctrl + shift + C, nothing happens; no console.

has anyone else had this problem?

i have the mini image etc, and it is mounted in DT correctly. however, i still get the emulation software error when i try to run the game. as far as i know, i have removed all traces of clonecd from my computer (the uninstaller got a virus, so i had to do it manually). i have deleted the elaborate bytes folder, as well as all the registry keys associated with it. what might i have missed?

I had the same problem, until someone told me that if i had cursor xp installed that was causing it. Now i don't know if you have that but a program is causing you that problem.

This is the way I did it, with the DVD version.

1. Create image with Alcohol 120%
2. Mount with Daemon Tools
3. Install with CD-Key from mounted image
4. play

Works fine with no crashes at all or anything

NOTE: I only have alcohol, nero and daemon tools installed in terms of cd-dvd softwares, many newer programs can detect certain cd copy and emulation programs like Clone CD which seems to be the most picked on by game developers. I can't believe that it was so easy to get Sims2 going without the cd/dvd I have no problems with disk space so I can happily leave the dvd image on my hard drive

still runs a little sluggish on max display settings
