I got this really anoying problem. I'm using the small image and everything works great (yes, the building mode too), but this time it's the live mode that doesn't work.
Whenever i do something that involves an object it simply doesn't work. For example, if I use the shower, the sim goes to the shower, I hear water flowing, the sim undresses by spinning around, the sim looks around, the sim dresses again and the sim hasn't taken a shower. The water keeps flowing btw.
Another example is the phone. If I want to use the phone, the phone itself (not the whole phone, but just horn, the part that to talk and listen to) disappears and that's it. There hasn't been made a call and the action is removed from the list (I mean the list of things to do in the upper left corner).
So after a while the sim is a living pile of ++++, smelling, wanting to shower etc. Does anyone have the same problem or does anyone know a solution?

ThxIt sounds like you are not using the original exe file. If you have not backed up your original you will have to re-install the game and then run the mini image, as it will not work with any of the noCD cracks that are out there at the moment

It sounds like you are not using the original exe file. If you have not backed up your original you will have to re-install the game and then run the mini image, as it will not work with any of the noCD cracks that are out there at the moment
I haven't used any crack. I just installed the game, mounted the mini image and started the game. I have the same problem on another computer. I'm using the original sims2.exe I don't know what's causing this, anyone?

Okay, iv tried the patch and the build mode didn't work, no suprises there with anyone, so...from there i read on to find out about deamon tools and alcohol. It seemed prettty confusing at first but i finally made an image of sims2 and the put it in the virtual drive using deamon tools, I then changed the .exe back to the origional and hoped for the best but still nothing. I cant really think of any ideas as to why, but i have an old copy of nero installed and the image is an .iso file, i wouldant have thought that these things make a difference but im not certain?

It's not that I can't load the image using DT or Clone CD, it's that when I install it my computer will not start into Windows XP normally, I can't even start in safe mode. Does it matter that I have DVD burning software or Nero 6.3 on my computer? Thanks in advance.

ok so here is the problem im having... i installed the game just fine. so now i needed the no/cd crack ive downloaded the mini image and followed all the instructions on how to mount and start the game. Worked just fine.
I get in the game and start playing, everything works for about 10mins and then the whole game freezes on me. i have to unplug my computer from the wall in order to restart.
This happens all the time. Could someone help me with this issue?

Okay, the way i did it was. Read the discs into Clone cd images reading speed at 4X or less using the protection option. then uninstall Clone cd and remove all registry keys. the install alcohol 120% and mount the images.

I removed cloned cd removed reg keys. Made a image from the 1st disk with alcohol loaded it with daemon latest version checked safe disc. Tryed to play the game it rebooted my pc. Tryed again and checked all the emulation options crashed again. It works with the the cracked exe but not the way i just mentioned BTW i used the orginal exe with the method above when i try emulation.. PLZ HELP

unfortunately for me, I didn't back up the original sims2.exe before I used a faulty no-cd crack. although I probably can't give you anything in return, would anyone would be so kind as to send me a copy of their sims2.exe? the only problem for me is that my video card is having problems with daemon tools, cus im pissed off so i read some forums, but what is happening is that the sims will minimize and a box will say that my video card has crahed and to restart the computer. this does not happen with those crappy nocd patched tho, only because of daemon tools.

but this patch will work, give it a try

Ok all you have to do to get the Sims 2 to work without the cd all you
need to do is:
1.Install the sims 2.
2.Download Daemon Tools
3.Download the attached file and extract them
4.Make sure all options and emulation or not ticked
5.Have the set number of devices to 1
6.Mount the extracted file.
7.Just Run the Game!!!

I did that it it worked like a charm. Thank you. I have the DVD version by the way and I didn't have to make any registry changes or anything. Downloaded the fix.zip file followed the exact instructions and it worked. Thanks again.

Hi all first time post for me.
To use the build mode correctly with the crack i simply made a back up of cd 1 with clone cd,replaced original exe with the cracked exe and inserted burned cd 1 in cd-rom from my original,or it doesnt work.
I know its not a no-cd but its a lot less hassle and only takes a few minutes of your time.
Hey presto all is well and i can enjoy sims 2 to the full.

PLEASE!! Someone help me. I recently lost my Sims 2 disks so I tried to get a no-cd crack. I did what everyone has said on this forumand successfully got the one to work that does not have build mode. However, I tried using daemon and alcohol; this was my downfall. Then, miraculously, I found my missing disks. Now, after removing all instances of the daemon and such I can find, my pc won't play ANY GAMES. NONE of them can find the disks. After trying to reinstall the Sims 2, it now says that there is an emulation program running somewhere and for me to remove it, but, unfortunately, I CAN"T FIND ANYTHING. Hmmm...Okay, It seems like almost no one has a very good idea of what's going on around here, now that is of course not meant offensively it's mearly meant that everyone including me doesn't seem to really understand what's happening....

First off, the crack that was posted a few posts up is crap (I can say crap right?) it's still the bad-buildmode crack that's been floating around...which is sorta where my problems explanation begins....

You see I installed the game off of a REAL CD...unlike those who either have illegal copies (CloneCD Download) or who were lucky enough for their CD writers to correctly read the cd's to images.....for me though...I only managed to read and burn the first cd and every other one failed entirely...and becuase I can't put the images on my hard drive and hence mount them to daemon tools and install them FROM the virtual drive....it means ALL THE IMAGE NO-CD CRACKS DO NOT WORK for me. Which is pretty crap (Sims2 looks for the neccassery files on the drive it was installed off of) and then I saw that there was finally a working DVD crack...which well...doesn't work either....most of the people in the Gameburnforums(The forums currently seem to be down tho...) seemed to think it does but ,at least in my case, I play the game for 10 minutes and then get kicked out with a "Protection Error"...

This is probably becuase it's the DVD Crack and I've got the CD version installed......sadly not a single site seems to think it would be smart to release the cd version....which is kinda stupid...and err.....annoying in my case....

Anyway...I've taken up far too much time with my pointless rambling, Tog et to the point...does anyone have any idea how to fix my problem? Even if it's a way to change the drive thesims2 looks for the image on it would be VERRRY HELPFULL...cause right now I'm stuck between LAGGY Build-less gameplay or Smooth gameplay in 10 minute intervills.....

ontopic: the no-cd patch for the DVD version isn't working with the dutch cdrom version of the sims 2. Possibly it is the same version as the english one but this is my personal experience and maybe helpfull for dutch visitors on this great board.

I don't know if this has already been posted (I only skimmed for the info i wanted ;)) but, for people like me...who DON'T back up before they download the no CD patch...you can download it here...i'm not entirely sure it works...but what i did was did a system restore and it seemed to work...the wonders of restoring...anyways...please someone tell me if it works, i don't have the discs with me so...i can't try it. it'll be there soon, i have to upload it...dum dee dum

This very small (1.5MB) footprint emulated CD workaround is perfect for me. Thank you Dot-cpu for taking the time to post it. I am in awe of those among you who can figure out this kind of thing. Dot-cpu's original post (http://www.mgforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=213000&postcount=458)

Also FYI, I mounted Dot-cpu's .mds file using Alchohol 120% and it behaved as expected/desired. I do not have CloneCD or Daemon Tools installed on this PC.

I do wish that the forum admins could single out the REALLY useful posts from the surrounding noise. Maybe posts like Dot-cpu's could be elevated to a locked thread/sticky or whatever this forum's moderators use. Maybe the links to the most useful posts in the thread could be added to the FIRST post in the thread using the Edit post feature.

The c.d image(needed to make a virtul cd rom) is 155 kb and deamon tools is 492 kb. get them now it is worth it

HELLLLPPPPPPP.... can someone please explain in detail, how to use deamon tools with the sims 2? Ive got the 4 cds, and ive got the 4 virtual drives, and so far thats it... the rest is a mystery........ I have clonedvd2, nero6, roxio, & alcohol installed also. Right this is assuming you have the cds on your rig. This is what you do:-
#1-Install DT

#2-Right click on the DT icon (bottom right corner of your screen, canny mind the proper name)

#3-At the top of box it should say something like virtual DVD/CDROM drive. Hover your mouse over it

#4-Then another box should appear. Should say something like device[0]. f: no media. Again hover your mouse over that

#5-Another box should appear and you should click on mount image

#6-A window will appear and you go to the sims 2 disc 1 folder and there should be a file somewhere that you can mount

#7-Go to my computer, double click the drive that you just mounted the sims 2 disc 1 into and you should be able the install the sims

#8-When it asks for the next disc just mount them as you did before

To run the game have disc 1 mounted in a drive and it shoukd work perfectly


If you have the REAL discs all you do is insert them into a REAL disk drive

HELLLLPPPPPPP.... can someone please explain in detail, how to use deamon tools with the sims 2? Ive got the 4 cds, and ive got the 4 virtual drives, and so far thats it... the rest is a mystery........ I have clonedvd2, nero6, roxio, & alcohol installed also.

first of all. u only need one virtual drive.... the sims only plays off 1 disk there fore only one drive is needed. ok

first u need deamon tools and the cd image(very important)
once you have that then(if u dont have that then email me ill send both or what ever you need tossmastr@hotmail.com)

open deamon tools(it will load on ur task bar,by the time!)
right click on the icon
then go to the top item called
"virtual CD/DVD-ROM"
once there go to device
"0:[E:] no media"
and from there go to
"mount cd image"
when you are there find your cd image(where u saved it), which should come with two files
one to the extention .mds. click on that and your done.

go to my computer and you should have a mysteriuos new CD ROM 4 FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
keep in mind the game take like 5 seconds more time to run just be patient IT DOES WORK. the game will run EXACTLY like you have a cd in the drive coz no cd check r skipped it really thinks the game is there!

also running the game this way require to run off the original "sims2.exe"

No there is no other way, you have to remove clone CD and clone DVD aswell, there are other burning programs out there that do not conflict with the game, but if you wish to play the game with the virtual drive with build mode working definitly you have to uninstall clone CD or if you don't it will keep on tell you turn off cd/dvd emulation device or something like that...Sorry that's the only way...

clone CD/ clone DVD and other conflicting burning programs are black listed or are being black listed. it would not suprise me in future if more games/software black list these applications. the point is that it is possible in future that u may not be able to run software with clone cd amoung other programes you are currently using

Once again: You CAN have clonecd installed while being able to play Sims2. All you have to do is to remove all entries from the Registration Database that clonecd have made - search for "CloneCd" or "SlySoft".
It runs fine on my comp. - I have both CloneCD, CloneDVD and Alcohol installed.

But after i followed the steps of emulation which I thought was freaking troublesome... the build mode finally worked for me ;).

Just 3 simple steps and 5mins of extracting etc...

I can finally play in peace without waiting for the crack..

I don't think this is a emulation problem more of a graphics problem.
I run the sims 2 and it randomly crashes it doesn't seem to be because of to many sims or anything like that. The error message i get says my ialmrnt5 file is stopped working properly. Ingrid I guess you haven't taken your time to read this forum :dozey: ...but since I'm such a nice person I'm going to explain why you are having that problem. ;) The reason why you are getting that error is because you have either Clone DVD or Clone CD installed on your computer or both. In order for you to get rid of that oh so anoying error is to uninstall those 2 programs from your computer otherwise your game won't work. I also read on this forum that if you delete the entries that either of those programs put on your operating system registry you don't have to uninstall them, just delete the entries from the registry. I personally have deleted the programs, cause in my point of view there are other burning software out there that do the exact same thing either of those programs do, so that's my opinion on that. There you are, the explaination to your problem...hope this reply helps you. :grayrazz:

With the original game installed and using Daemon tools latest version and the small fix file (155kb) mounted in Daemon, the game plays perfectly for me WITHOUT any cd's in the drive. No need for any cracks. Many thanks to the guys who have made this work around.

oh i did a system restore and got my clone dvd2 working again and i did use the original exe. anyway.. i think im giving up and will keep using the original cd til someone invents a universal no-cd patch, must be the way im doing it or summot.... but, thankyou for your help anyway, im sure others have followed your advise and got there game working smoothly. xxx

Yes you can burn it. Just make sure that you set your burner to ignore/write read errors. You will be able to make a back-up this way but it will still need a no-cd if you lose the original.

I can't help you with the back-up issue but i can help with the building issue. If you scroll up a few post you will see that i explained everything that has to be explained on the building issue. I think you should scrap the idea of making a back-up cause your making a lot of work for yourself.

If you follow these rules, step by step, you will have a fully functional, working game:

4. Run a Registry Cleaner of some sort, does not matter which one (you can get free ones at [www.tucows.com).
5. Right click on the Daemon Tools icon that is down by your clock and choose "Options". Under "Emulations" click on "Safedisc".
6. Right click on the Damon Tools Icon and move your mouse up to "Virtual Cd/Dvd Rom", to the slide you will see "Device such and such No Media" slide your mouse up to that and to the side you will see "Mount Image" Click on that and mount the first image with Daemon Tools and follow the instructions that Daemon Tools gives and install the game.
7. When you are done installing the game do not choose to play the game. Close out the window that tells you that The Sims 2 has been installed.
8. Unmount the image that is in Daemon Tools (you do this pretty much the same way as mounting).

Anybody owning a Dvd version of the sims, I think that there is a working crack on http://www.gameburnworld.com/gp/gamefixes/sims2.htm however I'm not sure if it's a No
CD or an illegal crack. I personnally don't own the Dvd version (at least not yet but

You can't use any other virtual drive program because they have all been "black listed". Daemon tools is the only one that works.

- then paste it to the TSbin in your sims 2 folder, where u installed it

hey u can just
1)uninstall the programs that are not causeins sim2 to to work,
2)If it still does not work then do a registry clean up
3)if it still does not work then u can reinstall(keeping the saved games would be smart)
4)the sims2 and nero can be installed while mounting
5)u don need to install the sim2 from deamon tools
6)if you don't know how to use deamon tools or do not have the sim2 image then go to www.freewebs.com/keepitlegit

on that site you will find every thing you need

lasty it may be possible to run the game with nero installed....
if you wish to do that then go to www.freewebs.com/keepitlegit
the tutorial for that is ment for clone cd/dvd but you can follow the tutorial and just compromise........it is pretty simple

If you REALLY want to play the game, I suggest that you use the ORIGINAL CD until you can get the crack to work properly.

With the original game installed and using Daemon tools latest version and the small fix file (155kb) mounted in Daemon, the game plays perfectly for me WITHOUT any cd's in the drive. No need for any cracks. Many thanks to the guys who have made this work around.

There are some registry files from sims that need to be unistalled!
Did u uninstall the game first?
Look at page 37 i posted web site how to do it!
U got that thing, because u needed to uninstall Clone cd and Daemon, and then install Daemon in order to get the game working.

Oh ok I'll try that and see if it works. By the way to anybody interested I've read on another forum somewhere that there is a working crack for Sims 2 but it only works on the international version for some reason so maybe thats why some people's cracks are workings and others are not.

I learned that you can mount the images using Virtual Clone Drive which is free and it bypasses emulation as it isn't blacklisted! Unfortunately, the image of my crack doesn't work. I need another working one.

I have installed Sims 2, and mounted the 4 discs in daemon. But it does not find the disk, when I try to play the game. "Cant find cd-rom bla bla bla.", and I can NOT seem to find whats the problem. I know the game works, and that daemon works.

Can it be that daemon has problems handeling 4 discs?

You only need to mount the first disc. You don't need the other three. Just mount the first disc and the game should run perfectly. But give it time to load as it takes a while to load using images.

There is currently no working crack for the sims 2, but there is a cd image that works with daemon tools. To get all this visit www.freewebs.com/keepitlegit and click on "Old Legit home". There is a tutoral on the site on how to use these tools. Once you know how to mount a image go to "downloads" and download the sims 2 cd image and daemon tools. :nod:

we bought a dvd version of the sims 2. when i start running the sims2.exe after installing it, it always ask for the 'correct CD-ROM.'

i don't know what it means... but the CD is still inserted in the DVD-ROM and yet it still asking for the CD...

Now i am no programer (though i am signed up for a diploma in it next year) But for now i am the inquisitive person who messes round with stuff.

I opened the SIMS 2 . EXE with msword, trying to see if there is a way to turn safe disc off (Unfortunately no).... But as i was searching through the lines of unreadable code i came to a section that you guys might like until you can find a working NO CD... Now megagames most prolly has them already, (i havent checked) but you can actually find the games CHEATS in the .EXE. Normally i dont bother with cheats (at least till i finish a game once or twice with out them) but since this isnt working right (for now) i thought you guys might be interested to know they are there.

So just for a laugh you guys might just wanna take a look at the sims 2 code through word...(Open the .EXE within word, you cant open with otherwise) who knows what other things you might find. :)

O.K us at Keep It Legit have put the The Sims 2 CD image And DAEMON Tools 3.47 on our site, so there's no need for you to go anyway else.(With this program you can build)
There is Tutoral link on our home page with a step-to-step guide on how to mount The Sims 2 CD image so there should be no problem. If you still have problems it please E-mail myself(What?) or Micheal Morett or STONE, our E-mail address's is on the link "About/Contacts"

That's interesting. I found a code called "DDERR_NOEMULATION". If I remove this, will it maybe stop checking if I am using emulation to run sims 2?

i am no cracker but i would doubt it, MS word cannot export exe's. u need a dissasembler and a hex editor to do that

but it would not hurt messing around though!

Can anyone help me cause i don't know what this is:

i use the keepitlegit stuff and it looked like it was going to work fine

but once i see the logo "The Sims 2" it sticks to only that :(
it won't go any further and after a few minutes it says the programs is not responding

any suggestions?

Hello!

I had the same "i can't build" issue but i found something that worked! (at least for me) I'll tell you how to do it:

1)Go here http://www.gameburnworld.com/gp/gamefixes/sims2.htm and download "THE SIMS 2 v1.0 [ENGLISH] MINI BACKUP IMAGE (155KB)".
2)Download Alcohol or daemon tools and install them (latest version).
3)Uninstall the Sims 2 if you have already installed it (to recover the original .exe file)
4)Install the Sims 2 and when you finish don't play it.
5)Unzip the file you downloaded and mount it unsing Alcohol or DT.
6)Now you can play and build your own house!!!!!!

this is not a no-cd but it will work just fine while we get a no-cd that works properly.

ok, serious now, i cant get the cd image to work with deamon tools.
So i installed alcohol and i have a problem.... i can create a virtual drive and mount the image, the virtual drive shows in my device manager, but it wont assign a drive letter and so wont run. Has anyone any ideas or is there another virtual drive creator out there i can use?????

i got the cdimage but im NOT using deamon...im trying to get alcohol to recognise a driver letter...it wont.

check file and options on alcohollllll a check the setings for the virtual drive... there must something wrong in there!

Hi all, I'm new here and I just wanted to say I have found a working crack. Maybe this has been posted before, but I'm too lazy to go through 40 pages of messages.

I found mine with a program called "Torrentsearch" by Allen Smithy. In Torrentsearch I typed in "sims 2". Then with BitTorrent-3.4.2 I downloaded a folder called "The.Sims.2.Virtual.NoCD.Plus.Nude.Patch.Build.Fixe d-Sheldon-AJ".

This folder contains a .rar file, a .sfv file and two .nfo files. Read the "sheldon.nfo" file for more instructions.

If it works for me, then why shouldn't it work for all of you? :P

The Good News..... i totally removed alcohol and restarted the pc. i did fresh install and actually had a virtual drive with a drive letter. I mounted the image and got the sims 2 to work. (was playing till early hours)........

The BAd News.... i got up this morning, and started pc. the virtual drive had vanished from alcohol, but it shows its there in device manager and there is no drive letter assigned to it.
How can i get alcohol to recognise it and how can i stop it from vanishing everytime i start the pc????

right, which one of you lot said that Deamon tools & the cd image wouldnt work with clonedvd????? well it works perfectly with "clonedvd2" If your wondering..
i installed Daemon Tools v3.47
it created the virtual drive nicely
i mounted the cdimage
and now i have 4 happy kids, :) :) :) :) out the way upstairs with the sims2 and i get to keep my original cds.

(weather it works after ive restarted the machine is another story)

For Daemon Tools to work, it must be v3.47 or higher. Older versions are blacklisted by the game.

In Alcohol, you have to go to the virtual image settings and tell it to auto-start in the tasktray, and automount images, all at windows startup. Other wise you will keep losing it.

Clone CD/DVD must be the NEWEST version to work with Sims2. Older versions are blacklisted by the game.

Nope. Not that easy. You would have to replace that bit of code with something else that would end up having the same 'checksum' as what you removed, or, find the part in the code that tells it to look/check for that checksum and change that, but then there is gonna be somewhere in the code that looks for that one, and there are normally man 'multiple' places that do those checks, and you have to find them all and replace them all, and the game itself may need checksums from what you have changed, and that may be in the code multiple times, and and and... you get the idea. Thosands of lines of code, and who knows how many checks, ugh. What a nightmare, eh?

Well, everything works, except, it hangs at the logo and doesn't load the game gives me the Insert CD Error... hmmm....

hmm.. everytime i start a family at a new lot.. after it loads.. the screen keep flashing for a period of time.. i tot it was nothing .. so i just ignored it.. but later on when my sim give birth, the same thing happened again.. it keep on flashing... untill i saw my sim holding the baby only.. but not the process how it was born...

hmmmmm... still talking about sims 2 crack??? I thought its done already. Use the miniimage, mount in DT and it works without crack or cd.

Now i am peeeed off. I manage to get daemon tools working with the mini image. I leave it set up, with the image installed, i log in today and the virtual drive no longer has its drive letter. It unassigned iteself.... why???
both daemon and alcohol keep doing this... i log off or turn pc off and when i get back no drive letter is assigned to the virtual drive. aand yes i do have them auto starting when windows start.

has anybody any ideas how to solve this... or is it something to do with windows itself???

now before you lot go looking at this site, this is just the daemon way (they have all the files are placed in one zip). it isnt the long awaited no-cd patch we all long for and want...
