I don't know about you but i got the game running quite easy. Unistalled every other virtual-cd software and loaded newest Daemon Tools. Installed 4cd Sims2 and at last, mounted cd1 with Daemon safedisk enabled and voila. Building mode is working and save too. What's that mini-image for? To save hdd space if you don't have larger images of Sims2 on it?

Hi guys, Heres a solution for you,
*ive only tested on multi language version*

You will need disk1 of Sims 2, Clone cd (full version/backup disk) & Deamon
tools,

1. Clone your disk using clone cd, save the image as a .ccd image,
when cloning select game cd leave all other settings as standard/default,

2. Open deamon tools, turn all emulation options on, mount the image you just made and if done correctly your game should run fine.

**Note - 1) If you get the message no disk in drive click continue (this is normal)

**Note - 2) Some people may encounter an error (Dvd/emulation software detected... ect...) this is caused by clone cd, uninstall clone cd to bypass this error and play the game,

thx soooo much; thx 2 your advice i got this game working.
however i did have some dificulties 2 start with (u know, understanding what does what) and so i thought as a thank you, i would post a "sims 2 for dummies" sort of thing.

so this is the (extremely simplified) steps i took 2 get this game running:

first i installed the game onto my hard-drive (DVD version).

then i searched on google for "daemon tools". this came up with their official web page (i think). from that site i downloaded the program daemons tools (top of the downloading list btw). i then extracted it 2 my hard-drive and installed it. it apperaed as a thumbnail picture at the bottom of the screen (lighting picture). that is now set up and ready 2 go.

i then when 2 a few pages back on this thread and found the link 2 the download of the mini image. it was posted by a person with a picture of the crabman off futurama, and is says "the mini image is HERE" and the word here is the link 2 download the mini image. once that had downloaded, i extracted it 2 my desktop.

now i right clicked on the thumbnail picture representing daemon tools and went 2 "emulation > safedisk" then i right clicked on iot again and went 2 the top option which is "virtual cd/dvd rom". from there i went 2 device > mount image > browse and opened the file that i had just extracted onto my desktop. this opens up a folder (this is normal). thsi is simply fooling ur computer into thinking that u have the cd/dvd in the rom. keep that window open and go and find the sims2.exe on ur hard-drive.double click on it and it should work perfectly.

BTW: my computer does not have clone cd installed or anything like that so read the previous posts 2 find out what 2 get rid of if this doesn't work.

Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools, they are all programs to clone a disc drive to serve the same purpose. Both of these I downloaded for the firsd time yesterday. Previously I've been using 'Virtual Clone CD'. Rather than detecting what I was mounting on Daemon tools, it kept seeing that I had Clone CD and would immediatly stop working. (even tho I wasn't mounting it with that program). Since I had both alcohol and daemon tools I just uninstalled my Virtual Clone CD and viola. Resolved my entire issue. Do as the above post states and enjoy the game!

Posting this just in case anyone else has any other form of this program going and might be experiencing the same problems that I had.

Lol man there are some pretty funny pplz in here asking for the sims 2 crack, i have no idea as to how ANY of you managed to get a FAKE crack haha. Well i for one know how hard it is to get a crack that works, especially for a game thats just came out. But people look no further, i have in my possesion the true working Sims 2 NoCD crack, it works fine, even the build mode works. Yes it says in the crack file that this is the crack that actually allows you to use the build mode, althoug i have not fully tested it, i have received an email from somone who has tried it and they say that it works perfectly, so give it a try

What do you mean that the DAEMON method is not working for you, thats the way i do it, i have sent the file and instructions to 2 people already and they say that it works perfectly, build mode and all, maybe you got a dud file.

Please BEWARE of anyone 'swearing' that they have a working crack for this (or any title) for that matter. Especially, if you see they haven't been a member of this forum for a long time.

I personally wouldn't trust any files from anyone that wasn't a long, standing member of these forums. I would suspect that most of these people are sending you trojans/key loggers/etc.

yeah theres this crack out that has you install deamon tools or alchohol 120% ... i used alchohol 120% ... and all you do is install the program... and there are these 2 files (cracks) for the sims2... one is like over a megabyte... the other is 1 kilobyte... and once ALCHOHOL 120% is installed... you can RIGHT CLICK the 1 kilobyte cracked file and then select MOUNT IMAGE > (and then you'll see your CD rom drive) (select that).... and THATS IT!... RUN SIMS2 (BUT MAKE SURE its the original EXE and not any NOCD cracks that youve been trying to use before).... and you can BUILD AND PLAY AND DO EVERYTHING!!! :D

Dont get fooled if you open the game after all this and it seems like it closed on you or it doesnt open.... cuz it does... it might take a minute or so though...

and then after you are done with the game.. (playing it)... you can right click that 1 kilobyte file again and go to UNMOUNT... then it just unmounts it for now... and when you want to play sims2 again... then you can mount it like you did before! that simple! anyways.... SO GLAD i got this figured out lol... just email me or something if you want those 2 files (Cracks)... later guys!!

Even when selecting the special "protected pc-game" read option in CloneCd the same thing happens.

Any ideas?

The safe disc 3 seems to have infected my computer when I ran a non-working no-cd-crack.

Now when I use the mini-image with the latest version of Deamon Tools, there is glitches and the comp reboots after 5 min.

Is there a way to fix this without having to reinstall winXP again?

I have installed the game to my harddrive
I used the mini image and daemon tools to get the game running smoothly and build and everything
I also copied the entire cd1 of sims2 to my hard drive, can I burn this to a dvd and then later use this dvd to install sims2 on another computer AND/OR do I have to use the mini image and daemon tools to get it working?

There is no CD-Crack that completly works out yet. The best way to get the game to work is with emulation. All you need is Alcohol 120% and alcoholer.
Here are the steps:
1) Run ALcohler (Don't worry about the program it is asking about)
-Set the copy protection to "Safedisk v2"
-click the run Alcohol 120% button
2)In Alcohol 120%, click on "Image Making WIzard"
3)After the wizard is complete, you'll see the image file on the right side of the screen
4)Under option click on "Virtual Drive"
-Make sure the number of virtual drives is atleast 1.
5)Right-click on the image file on the right hand side of the screen.
6)Click "Mount on Device"
7)Click on one of the virtual drives.

From there the game should work. Actually faster than it did with the DVD in the drive, atleast for me. The game is fully functional as long as you have the image mounted on the drive. THis also works for other games but the program that alcoholer calls for is needed to find out what kind of copy protection the game uses.

I burned it using CD CLone before removing it from my system. Then I used the mini image and Alcohol120%(Spelling?) and the original exe. It works fine, although the first time I tried it game me an error, it worked the second time just fine.
So I do not think you NEED to use Alcohol to burn it.
Going to try the Nude patch next since it keeps the size of the original exe.

I have been following this thread very closely and have tried the mini image method, the daemon tools method, the alcohol 120% and alcoholer method and finally I used clone CD and uninstalled it. ALL of these endeavours proved unsuccessful. Each time I attempt to load up the original .exe I am confronted with a blank error message with an (X).

All I can say is that I hope some sort of crack will become available sometime in the near future.

DONT USE THE CloneCD Program!! The Creators of The Sims 2 (IE Maxis) have made it so that if you have CloneCD installed, you wont be able to play the game, this is why it wont burn, try using the DAEMON tools or The Aclohol 120% program to burn it...

Your in for a long wait, if you can't wait that long use the daemon tools trick or have certain readers/burners that will load from CD, using the ignore media trick.

Someone wants to burn safedisk V3 and is wondering that neither the image or the burned copy runs ?

To Burn Safedisk V3.2 you need:
1. An 100% EFM Burner
2. Alcoholer 4.1 (Profile-Proggi for ALcohol 120%)
3. Alcohol 120 %

So: Start ALcoholer the profile must have this criteria:
max read Speed : 4x
max write speed : 4x
ignore read errors on
read sub channel data on
copy pre-gap on
EFM something on (This is in the lower burner part)

Thats it : Now rename it to someting like Safedisk V3

No Promisse that will work for you, it depends on your burner.

I Have a Liteon LTR 48246s without Firmware upgrades, and it runs, and it runs, and it runs....
The Real Hit is to activate the Subchannel Reading, because it will run as image without subchannel data,but the cd-r needs it to run-

SO if you get the Message "Virtual Drive found" etc.

DEINSTALL CloneCD, its old crap and of no use anymore...

In Daemon tools : Look for Drive Parameters for your Virtual drive and rename it like "Gravurom V2.3" or something other than installed, cause not the emulation software is blacklisted, the Windows Driver Names are Blacklisted.

In Alcohol 120%: Deinstall it, then reinstall it hit the box down left "expert mode"
Now during the install rename the drive and the bus driver to something else,
z.B. Godsscsi, Fakescsi, something like like that.

Okay this is the same problem that i ran into, and the solution is actualy very simple. All you have to do is download a program called MagicIso and convert the image that your having problems with, into a differnt kind of image. For Example

Sims2_1.mdf --> Sims2_1.ISO

that way it will work, hope this helps dude cause thats how i did it, if you need more help just email me, im more than happy to help people.

EvilTwins post about a no-cd patch is not quite correct... but http://www.gameburnworld.com/ is where you can get a small image file that simulates the copy protection on disk 1... load this into daemon tools v3.47 and Sims 2 will work 100%.. Thanks EvilTwin

Yes your right, what we have isnt a crack but an alternative to get the game to work. The alternitive way is usualy too hard for the average PC user to be able to follow the instructions...so we will have to make do with what we have for now.....and please people if its not a crack dont post it, dont do what i did lol *hits head* haha

or just reinstall the no-cd patch over... but warning none of the no-cd patches work... build mode is disabled

I had the same problem with dishwasher and waste compressor until I found out that they have to be placed inside a counterunit...

Well i didnt install my sims 2 from the dvd version, mine is the normal 4 cd package. There may be some differences between the two but there should be no reason for it to not work! Heya im new hear but i know a far bit about computers, anyway im having a technical problem which may be my computer of the patch in using for them sims2 im to sure. I can click on the save button but then it does nothing, it doesn't freeze or anything. Just it doesn't save same when i exit says the

If you have the CD version of Sims 2 and don't want to wait for that "proper" crack to be released, all you have to do is;

1) Remove all emulation software
2) Install Daemon Tools 3.47
3) Enable safedisc
4) Mount disc 1

That's it!!After you've mounted the image the game will start itself. You will most certainly be able to build and loading times are not so friggin long! :love:

Can't you guys just play it with a CD/DVD before a wroking crack comes out and stop moaning that build and that lot aint working, least these people are trying unlike some of you who are just so impatient that you cant wait for one. I know you want one bad so do I because I dont want to ruin my disks but if you put pressure on people then they may go wrong again.

I have just loaded the mini image from daemon tools 3.47 and it works perfectly. There are a few things that you must remember.
1.The mini-image must be in the same drive that you installed the game...usually "C"
2.You must use the original exe. in the game folder when you mount the image. If you did like me and installed the fixed exe. then you must reaplace it with the original. It can be found on disk 4 -compressed folder-tsbin-sims exe.
once the image is mounted and you have the original exe. just click the short cut to start the game and be patient. It takes my P3 3.2 about 30 seconds to start the game as the mini-image is scanned... then the sims 2 starts and is fully playable including build mode. Which i need because of my nasty habit of burning my house down.

If you do have the DVD version then i hate to say it but you will have to wait for a crack to be released for that version. Many people have said that none of the methods will work with the DVD version, but please hang on there willl be a working one soon im sure of it! MegaGames will not fail us!

ok i'm having a slight problem. I have all the CD images of Sims 2. and am using Demaon Tools to mount the images in a fake drive to play the game.

However, some how i have deleted Sims CD1. and i do not have CD4 anymore too go into it too find Sim2.exe.

Do you know where i can get the Sims CD1 CD image? or can anyone send it too me?

Or does anyone have a working No CD patch. I've read through pages 1 -4 and it looks a bit slim at the moment.

I got the game to work easy..

1) I uninstalled Alcohol 120% and CloneCD
2) Installed Daemon Tools 3.46
3) Mounted the image to a cd drive
4) Enabled Safedisc emulation

That's all I did and it works perfectly fine, not slow or anything. It told me I had emulation software before I uninstalled the two, but after that it worked.

The problem with cracking this game is that the game contains a number of custom routines to cross check as to whether the original safedisk protection has been removed or not. If any of these routines detects such a modification or indeed detect a change in each other then the game will behave in a strange manner. X2 The Threat had around 5 of these routines built into the original .exe when it came out, these routines have to be hunted down one by one and then removed or worked around in order to get a working crack. Not an easy job for anyone, even the best of crackers as it is very time consuming.
P.S. on a side note I got the minicd version working with both alcohol and daemon (on 2 different computers), both with no emulation settings turned on

install daemon tools and then run it. Mount the image for the sims 2 and you are ready to go. You will need to extract the sims 2 minicd to a folder on your hd first :D . if you need any more help then there is tons of info on mounting the image etc. in this thread, just read through it...

Hello there.

I'm writing this post because i also had the same problem you have. I was not able to play properly, since i could not use the build mode. So i decided to look for forums and try to find the answer. And i have, i really have.
The solution is simple. You'll have to download daemon tools (i have the 3.46) and all you have to do is mount your game images(the ones i have are .mdf file extensions over 4 CDs) and install the game normally, once the instalation is complete, you remount cd1 and the game should start automatically (mine did). So this way you don't need a no cd crack.
Every time you want to play sims2 you just have to mount cd1 with daemon tools.

I hope i was able to make myself clear, since english is not my native tongue.

could someone give me step by step on how to get the mounting image working w/ daemon v3.41 I got as far as opening it then mouting image> mini.mds double clicked sim2 icon on desktop it loaded said "please insert cd" tried mouting the other file that was in the zip mini.mdf loaded sim2 same error. Run it with the original .exe, it can be found on one of the discs.. i forgot which, it's either 1 or 4.

I didn't have any luck running the game using the MiniCD file from GameBurnWorld so i made a disc image of my original disc 1 and mounted that instead, everything seems to be working fine so if you're not having any luck with the MiniCD file then make an image of your original disc and use that instead.

I've got this and used Alcohol 120% to burn it and even installed it with no problems whatsoever. However when I click to play, with Disk 1 safely installed in my CDROM I get the SIMS2 splash screen and nothing. My PC doesnt lock up, but I cannot close the window and 3 finger salute it away.

Okay check the following.

1.) That you do not have CloneCD installed, if you do remove it.
2.) Make sure that you have the Non DVD version of the Sims 2.
3.) Make sure that you have DAEMON 3.47 or later.

If it still does not work then you have a problem with your Sims 2 ISO image

CD = 4 install discs

DVD = 1 install disc + bonus disc (kinda puzzled why they didn't use a dual-layer disc, unless they're doin it like UT2K4 and the "Special Edition" is a limited run).

Ok tried mounting the mini cd and the full iso. After i mount it and go to the directory to which i installec the sims 2 and click sims2.exe the splash screen comes up and stays there for about 15 seconds then goes away. then the game is about to load and the pop up comes up saying that the sims 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. oh i tried daemon tools with the original image and the mini cd, i got the same error.

Let's not forget that the game is still buggy. If you put a no cd crack on it, you are messing with the game that Maxis cannot fix. I myself use cracks because I'm annoyed having to swap cd's on two machines. If you use cracks, don't complain about problems you might have. The game was not designed for the crack you use, it was designed for CD. I wish someone would hurry already and get a crack out, I'm annoyed with switching CD's.

I turned the safedisk option in daemon tools and now when i try to open the sims 2 my comp locks up. any suggestions on how to fix this, or how to fix the problem when i try to open the sims 2 i get the message "the sims 2 has expericenced a problem and needs to shut down". Sorry to be the one with the bad news, but the socalled "working" no-CD fix on gamecopyworld is NOT working. I've tested it both in neighborhood-mode and in "house"-mode and you still can't build...

If this is a working crack contact www.magagames.com (http://www.magagames.com) to get it uploaded.
I would not download this as there is no way of knowing what it might be and if it is something nasty it's too late once you've got it on your HDD.

I have seen on another forum about a small thing called Game Jackal... I have The Sims 2 on DVD version and I tried all Alchool and Daemon tool with no results...

You have to install Game Jackal and built mode and money mode are ok... just perfect. You just follow the instructions on screen and it took me 2 minutes...

You need the original CD or DVD to setup the Game Jackal...

It's the only way to play without CD or DVD if you don't make it by Alchool or Daemon tool.

To anyone trying to figure out how to play with an image of the first cd, I managed to do it and can confirm how to do it.

At first it gave me the "Virtual Drive program detected" message, so I messed around with both Alchool and Daemon tool without success, then I figured it. For some reason, what it didn't like was Clone Cd. I don't know why, as my version of it has no virtual drive option, but oh well...

I uninstalled Clone CD and mounted the image in Alchool, and when I started the game it didn't see the cd. I tried it in the newest version of Daemon tool, and it worked. I'm emulating the protection, by the way.

So, in short:
Clone Cd installed = Will give you the "Virtual Drive" message.
Alchool = The cd won't be detected.
Daemon tools = Will work.

Now you can play the game without cds, have fun!

I could never get alchol to mount my dvd. I have it as a .dvd

Ok all you have to do to get the Sims 2 to work without the cd all you need to do is:
1.Install the sims 2.
2.Download Daemon Tools
3.Download the attached file and extract them
4.Make sure all options and emulation or not ticked
5.Have the set number of devices to 1
6.Mount the extracted file.
7.Just Run the Game!!!

I had the same problem with the no cd crack. I went to the Sims 2 official forums and the developers admit to including such code that disables building whenever a no cd crack is used. This has many legal owners of the game rather ticked off. So far I haven't found any other cracks that work around this issue.

run => regedit => LOCAL_MACHINE => SOFTWARE => EA Game => The Sims 2 => CD Drive.

Now in that option, change the drive to the drive which you use your daemonTool mount the minidisc (e.g mine is E:\).

Strange... One of the first patch released was exactly 13.3 Mb and it had a keylogger inside. I was infected and had to remove it using AdAware... Be careful!

Okay, I tried the mini cd originally and it didn't work. I tried it a second time after reading about the registry (but before changing the entry hoping that maybe it would work) and it worked...and now after changing the registry it still works so...it may be different for other people but the mini cd definitely works 100% with the DVD version.

Heh. I'm not sure 'annoyed' is the right word. I'm just being realistic. Of course no one wants to spend the time looking through 500+ posts looking for a crack. I bought the game and couldn't get mine to work because of some emulation message complaining about nero which I use to write mp3's and .fla music so I'm not removing it and besides its a legal program and they shouldn't be nosing around my computer looking at the programs on it. But the crack does make the game play now but building doesn't work. So if you use Daemon Tools will you still get the Emulation message if you have nero or clone cd?

Suggestion if you encounter problems using Daemon tools. When i first installed the game I installed the crack also. I tried to install the deamon tools and it works with the original sims2.exe. It´s in CD4 ("compressed" file i guess...). It didn´t work. So I uninstalled the game, the daemon tools and clone cd...then i installed the game and the daemon tools again and now it works perfectely....I can build and change everything....

Ok, this is what worked for me.

First, uninstall CloneCD and any other disk imaging programs.

Now: Unistall the Sims 2

Reinstall Sims 2

Reinstall Daemon Tools

Download the minidisk image from www.gamecopyworld.com or the one here, if megagames has one, I haven't checked.

Now, mount the image in Daemon.

Run the game...it should work now.

Also, you must have the original .exe for this to work, no cracks.

This should sate most until a real crack is produced.

If you have the 4 CD image:

1) Mount with Daemon tools v 3.46 or higher.

2) Get rid of Clone CD if you have it.

3) Make sure you have the original "sims2.exe" file and not a crack. Lost it? extract it from the "compressed.zip" on CD 4.

4) Run the game.

DVD version?

Just be patient and actually read these threads instead of being lazy.
