GTA Vice City - Cant Install

I hope no one is mad about me posting in the emergency room...
I have no job at this time and all I have is my computer games :-(
Also I was not sure where else to post it.. so you can tell me that to if you wish.

Problem: I installed sp2 on my pc... I meet all system requirements etc for gta vise city. I have all win xp pro upgrades.
When trying to install vise city i get an error message saying it cant find some file to do with direct x, then all crashes.

Can anyone help?

Hi,

Reinstall or get the latest DirectX.

Should be DirectX 9b.

As I said I have all the updates, including directx. I have DirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime. Also I tried to install it on my d:, and c: a few times each. I always get the same problem...

I tried rockstars web sight support, but it doesnt work, or is down or something.

Remember that the installer was made at the time when DirectX 9b was around, so it may be a bug with DX9c.
