Does anyone know how to make a network between WinXP home and Win2k work, using just the software on the computer or opensource software(i cant afford anything else)

give them both a IP and subnet address
use a cross over cable and job done.

You can't go wrong with a crossover cable, other than that just put them on the same workgroup/domain and they should show up in each others respective My Network Places folders.

Just use Crossovercable to connect them together, make them both part of a work group and restart them at almost the same time
If ya have done this they should see each other under Networks
