backing up; what went wrong?

I recently made a backup of of certain files on my computer and need to restore them coz my sister deleted 2 folders, one of which has a file that i need for TAFE that i need, the only problem is that the backup is corrupt but i think there is a way to recover the file that i need, problem is that i haven't a clue how to recover the file.....
pls help

also, i'm no longer wanting to use the win2k server backup utility and would like advice on what other backup utilities are avilable, thank you

Find a free program called Handy Recovery. It's pretty good at recovering lost/deleted files. I use it at work to fix other's screw-ups.
