Well, I finally got it working.

Some of you may remember a LONG time ago when I bought the Xbox live service and it just wouldn't work because when i wired the house for networking our cables were way too secure and were not compatable with Xbox Live's service.

Well I have now fixed that by buying an ethernet bridge.

I bought a WET11 Ethernet Bridge from Linksys and I am running it wirelessly to a DLink wireless router.

All I did was check out my configuration for the wireless router and match it to my bridge through the included install program, and I was all set. I set my DNS servers to their primary and secondary, entered my cable modem's MAC address, and set my IP configuration to automatic. After that, it was smoothe sailing.

Let me tell you, I love this Xbox Live service so far. My brother got Crimson Skies and it's a blast playing against 12 other fools through the headset online against eachother.

I really think that this service could go far and I advise everybody with an Xbox to get it if they haven't already.

I know, I know, this is old news, but I thought that it would be good to say because I am sure some people remember my troubles with Microsoft's poor support for high end cabling and equipment.

Bottom line: I am a PC gamer at heart and I really don't like console games that much, but I love this new Xbox Live service and I think it can really bring a lot of good things to the console market, which currently, in my opinion, suffers from lack of innovative technology and only has a few good games per platform.

Heh. Glad ur finally settled with it. I personally just unsubscribed from my Live! account. (I had a 2 month FREE trial). I enjoyed playing Crimson Skies as well. As well as MechAssault & Project Gotham 2.

Enjoy j00rself! :)

I was thinking about getting it,but decided not to. Do not want to pay for it. Will not bother with online gameing on consoles untill there is no extra charge like the dc. Xbox have to pay for xbox live :( , ps2 is on the right track with no charges , but have to buy network adapter :(.

£40 for a year is not that bad, and that includes the headset, pretty good from my point of view. Dont know how much they charge for renewing a subscription once it runs out, but i heard you can just buy another Live pack with another headset and update with the code that is provided in the pack, you dont lose your gamertag. so i have heard anyway.

It aint it's to expensive , it's just I refuse to pay for online gaming. Never payed to play a game online and don't intend to. I know xbox live is not just a single game , its a service , but still means I cannot just buy a game and go online , I must be subscribed.

I agree. If it were ME buying this service, well.. I wouldn't have bought it.

However, this is my brother we are talking about, so I get full privelages meaning I can leech off him all I want :D

I additionally think it's rediculous to pay for online gaming, it is free on PCs, and since the Xbox is a very crappy PC, it should as well be free. Microsoft just wants money, who knew? lol!

However, it does give a new experience, you cannot deny that. All the games work together on one global system, it is virtually lag-free, and the only game I've tried which does not incorperate the headset was Dance Dance Revolution 9 - I am not surprised either.

I am mixed about this. I really think Microsoft needs to make some improvements before I actually find the money that my brother spent WORTH IT, but for now, it is innovative and I hope that in the future they can improve upon these flaws and also forget about charging people.

The phantom is costing money, whether or NOT you choose to use their online services (you sort of have to). I read an article on it in Maximum PC, and they really liked some of the features like the keyboard mount for wireless gaming on your television, but they said that the service costs 15 USD a month and the games cost extra, and all the downloadable content costs extra (another thing I really hate about the Xbox service - new maps = $$$?? ).

I hope Sony and Nintendo dont backstab us and start this crap about charging for online services, I have the money to subscribe to the service but how the hell can you justify ripping somebody off, ive played online for years on PC for free and now MS wants to charge me for doing what ive been doing for free for years on my PC and months on the PS2 and GC?

Its the principle not the price that worries me, I couldnt care if it was 1 cent a century the fact is im not paying for it, its that simple, I hope they drop the price, if they dont im not going to get ripped off, sorry Bill but your rich enough already mate, get your head out of your *** and drop the pricetag.
