Play online games offline...

Ok now i know this sounds really strange, and personally if thats what your thinking I dont blame you. However somthing crept in my mind, a possibility of playing online games without being connected to the internet. Ok now im no computer geek, thats for sure, and i only know the bare basics of how the dam machines even work, however I couldnt help but see a way to connect to my favourite online multiplayer games without even being connected to the internet.

My theory is, in basic non computer language... find the IP address of the lobby host of the game you want to play, somehow use it in a program, which will use your modem to make a direct connection to that IP address, and then with the connection established, search for all the games you want to play, offline. This would be great for people with download limits / slower connections, as a direct connection would almost certainly pick up the speed of your modem connection by at least 50 - 100%, and since your not using your ISP, wouldnt even take up your download!!!

Think about this tho, When you play online through a games inbuilt lobby system, you connect to the lobbys IP and hence the server, and the server sends data back to you through this connection too. All im saying is that if you manually conect to the server, without using your internet connecton, joining it by IP / number there should be no problem in the server sending data back to your computer as well, as like when on the internet, a direct modem / IP connection allows data to be transferred two ways.

In order to connect to an external IP like you're describing, you yourself have to have an IP address. You dont have an IP address unless your ISP gives you one. No ISP equals no IP address, and no connection to anything.

The only way is to grab that server and put it in your home and get hooked in your LAN ;)

Anyway, it's a great fun to use your imagination hence figure new things around :) don't stop here! Find new path for other things aswell, adding some logic and sense will help!
