pc games back up

hi im new to backing up pc games and i just want to know that if i use alcohole 120 or games x copy should i be getting a copy i can play with out using no cd patches as ive tried to do shrek2 and starsky & hutch and both times i have to download the no cd patch to play the back up game ,thanks for any advice in advance

Before backing up, You need to know what kind of copy protection the game might have. To do that, I suggest you download clonyxxx. It's used to identify the copy protection and therefore will give you the name of it. Once you have the info you can backup your pc game accordingly.

ive dowm loaded clonyxxl and it says its got safedisc 2.9 and set the settings on alcohol 120 to safe disc 2/3 (which im only guessing is right) and still im only getting a backup that plays with a patch, sorry to be a pain but its just all new to me.
