Help please GTAVC Codes not working

I have both codebreaker and gameshark and they both came with the codes for grand theft auto vice city. I try putting one code and the game doesn't load up for some reason. I just bought the game it came with gta3 too so I don't know if it could be a different version or not. Please help me with the problem thank you.

yea, i heard they r different versions, and the same with saves, u cant save on double pack, and take it over a mates house, when he has the original
