I should think it will be Ok to play online, with an Original Game M8, as I think the Messiah 2 can be " switched off " to make the PS2 appear as unchipped .. I know this is the case with the DMS3, as I have one fitted to my PS2, and it does work. ;)

For online games that detect modchips or PS2 Utility Discs (like the DVD Player upgrade disc that comes with the Sony DVD Remote), use Sleep/Stealth Mode.

Sleep/Stealth Mode is selected by putting the PS2 in to "Stand-by" mode (redlight) and turning on the system by pressing in "Eject" and holding it for 1 second. This will completely disable the chip until you reset the system or power off.
