Dont know where to put the patch HELP!

After i downloaded a patch online, and i dont know where to put it, do you have to unzip it?

aye you have to un zip it . then Copy and paste it into the game directory [Eg; Drive C --- Program Files --- (game name/makers name) ], it will ask u if u want to replace the previous file, click "yes"
