i need help with windows media player

everytime i try opening a file in windowsmedia player it crashes and gives me this send and dont send error message report and when you send the error message it gives you crap all for help can n e one help me? i really im desperate!

Hey Jethaz ^^

I know what you're talking about and it's really annoying :angry:. Unfortunately, I have no idea what causes it :(... I suggest you either re-install Windows (and make sure you keep all your files), since I don't think you can re-install Windows Media Player by itself, or you could try to fix it with the Windows CD-Rom (Problem Solving, Repairs etc). If none of this helps, I suggest you avoid using WMP by installing programs like Winamp and Realplayer. Anybody else?? Good luck anyways :)

thanx for trying to help. unfortunatly formatting and reinstalling windows isnt really an avalible option rite now so......and also winamp and real player doesnt play avi's so unfortunatly im screwed rite? and this download patch up thing im trying to look for one but there pretty hard to find and most of them are usually freeware crap that adds a whole bunch of ++++ to urs pc but ill try and hopefully ill find one that is just ment to fix my problem and thanx for ur help if n e one else cares to help it would be apreciated

i checked windows cause when i sent the error report for some free help it told me to download this crap that didnt work oh thanx for your help agian. this would be so much easier if i knew the cause of this problem... i was listening to music and my computer reset on its own(it does that sometimes i dont know y) then when i tired listening to music agian it gave me the stupid message i cant get rid of it and i cant watch or listen to n e thing so if you can help it is apreciated and thanx agian *heaven*

You can download media player from microsoft download center and install it again, mayby it help to solve you problem.
What is you windows and mediaplayer versions ?

Does it crash when open any file or only when open avi`s ?
When trying to open divx avi`s in mediaplayer, it sometimes crash.
Here`s prog for watching divx avi`s and other mediafiles:

It`s made for Windows 9x/Me/NT4.0/2000 but works fine with xp too.

it always crashes while loading n e type of file. sorry it took me long to reply i wasnt home for a while and thanx for all of your help unfortunatly the problem still isnt fixed. its looking to me that the only way to fix it would be to reinstall windows.... so unfair
