Hello everyone! I'm new and have some moding questions!

Hi, yes I'm a nOOb! I hope that I will be able to help others in the future, but right now I need help. I bought a Matrix mod chip that is on it's way. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I need to flash the bios using Evox to play backups. Looking over this site I couldn't find ver. 2.5 which I think is the latest. Can you point me in the right direction?

What else do I need to get Matrix up and running? I want to be ready to go when it arrives.

I also want to be able to run MAME on my Xbox and some emulators. Will I be able to do this by booting them from DVD or do they have to be on the HD to work?

This will be the first time I mod a console so any other help/suggestions is appreciated. Thanks!

Well the first thing you do is take your new mod chip and throw it away.

The MS servers are going to be pinging for any XBX's on XBXLV that are mod'ed. I can't say what they'll do to your box when they decide to, but I doubt it will be good.
Stick to OEM and region encoded games if you want the best performance reliability, and support. If you want to play other regional games and movies that bad, buy an imported XBX. Those transluscent jap consoles and controllers sure look cooler than some antistatic baggie.

i don't know what the heck r u talking about he's just asking for the bios and for emulators he didn't mention anything about xbox live.. i know new xbox can't be moded at this time but he didn't say it was a brand new xbox eather! so?? what r u talking about?:rolleyes: hey discgolf don't throw ur mod away go ahead and install it! anyways u won't have any problems if u plan to get xbox live.. like i said go to xbox-scenes.com and u'll learn all the good stuff there! :)

i dont need evo-x to play games...u need it to burn games,,,so u can ftp game files...i know FOR SURE im waiting till xboxlive comes so i know if i can get one or not

Surely anyone going online with an xbox could simply bypass the M$ servers...Exactly like everyone did with the DC.

Since I bought a new computer with a Pioneer DVR 104 DVD burner, TV card, high end VCR($2000 total), switched to Road Runner($25 more per month) going to go buy a wireless router and 2 WET 11's today and a mod chip, what's another $150-$200 for another Xbox?

It will take some hacking because the XBX online only accesses the main servers. I'm sure it's possible to to reprogram various URL's, but I feel it isn't advised. There is no keyboard support virtual or otherwise for XBXLV. All uplink connection is done by the browserware; so a modified browser would be required. The XBX is supposed to be allowed to sync with the MS servers unbothered for an hour or so. My Beta pack included instructions to run the system disc overnight if possible. This is supposed to be to configure the browser and update various firmware. I'm sure it scans the Hdd for games saved/played/progress, types of games played, frequency of game play, average playing time, longest playing time, possibly even the play list of your music manager.

However, given the MS reputation for not liking unauthorized(read: nonMS) ware on their machines; what's to keep MS from scanning your box to see if it is running at and using the factory set parameters? If found to be showing a BIOS a bit different from the one that is supposed to be in your production run of XBX's, what's to keep them from fragging your Hdd all to hell with the right "firmware" update.
