If you are connecting when a game in the xbox drive it will not work. Make sure the xbox drive contains no CDs/DVDs, then connect to it. Once you are connected, you can open the drive, insert a CD/DVD, and refresh to see the contents on the disc.

i still cannot connect. i have found the ip settings on my xbox and changed it to those and still cannot connect. what is going on with this thing? also, does having a switch on the xbox make any difference? because there are 3 switches on there. i have the x-ecuter 2.3b chip and the switches are as follows:
#1 says enable or disable
#2 says protect or unprotect
#3 says bank1 or bank 2
my current switch settings are enable, protect, and bank1. do i need to change these settings?
Are you sure you're using a working crossover cable?
Did you verify the username/password you are using?
You are connecting with the drive empty right?
