Recently I reformatted my hard disk, installed all of my old software, drivers and games etc. Everything is fine except my internet. When I go online everything is fine for a few minutes, and then, even if im not doing anything, the icon showing the internet connection lights up, and shows the connection downloading somthing at around 50kbps, even though im not downloading ANYTHING. Ive turned windows update off in system/Ausomatic updates, and yet the problem persists. Ive never had this problem before, and I have no Idea whats causing it. Im not running any programs in the background except PCcillin2003, so no other program is downloading anthing.

If it helps my system is a AthlonXP2000, 512MB DDR266 ram, a 128MB GeforceFX5200 and a Dynalink ALE800 ADSL modem.

The reason this is a problem btw is that I have a 300MB download limit on my plan, and not to mentn, with whatever is going on, slows down my internet connection very considerabally.

I re installed windows XP, and therefore formatted before hand. btw I tried using PCcillin 2003's scan utility, and it didnt find anything.

WHat could it be and what should i do????

Search for a program called: Wall Watcher, might work... I have it, moniters pretty much outgoing, and incoming stuff...
Other than that, run a AV program, see what happens, or go with some anti-bug software, see what causes it. If nothing else... It could be something normal :)

Hmm that's strange.

You should check for any spyware.

used to happen om my old 56k connection, just then formatting fixed the problem. I ran PCcillin 2003 on both my partitions and nothing was found.
