I have two have problems related with ut2004 the first about the perfomance I have severe slows downs in this game, it should works correctly because I have a video card with 128 or vram and the game only requires 32mb. The other problem is related to the joystick. The game doesn't seem to recognize it when I check mark on the option of permit joystick and I return to the main menu and the go the options again the mark uncheck I don't now why. The previous versions of unreal tournament detected my joystick I don't why the new one not work.I also add that my joystick works well on another games I installed the most recent patch of ut 2004 and doesn't seems to help me. And I don't think go to windows update could help because microsoft doesn't give decent support for their joysticks.

And finally I have a quetion is only curiosity about the ut 2004 joystick configuration not a problem , Why in the original ut you could reassign the axis in the menu and since ut 2003 you can only adjust the axis editing the ini files of the game? that is more complicated if some users are beginners

My specs are:
Compaq
256 Ram
Pentium 4 1.5 Ghx
HD 40 Gb
Nvidia G-force4 mx 128 mb
Windows XP Pro SP 1
Direct X 9.0b
Joystick Microsoft Sidewinder
and video drivers updated to the most recent version (56.72)

I hope your suggestions thanks

Which are the settings you use? Your computer isnt powerfull enough to run 2004 with high settings, if you want to run the game decently in high settings you should get 512 ram and new graphics card (the mx cards are crap, doesnt matter if it has 128mb or not).

As for the joystick option getting unchecked it may be some bug in ut2004 and they probably removed the settings from the menus because very few people use it IMO joystick is a crapy control system in a game like ut2004

There is a lot of time since I posted this thread I never couldn't get the slowdows fixed until now that atari recently released the patch 3355 also the loading times are more faster I read on the atari forums a lot of users having this problem even with more powerful computers than mine. They corrected a year late anyways is better the perfomence If anyone have this problem should download that patch from the official page. Another thing I note make better perfomance on the games are the beta drivers from nvidia in games like farcry, half life 2 gothic2 and others I downloaded that beta drvers when was the version 66.93 now I was realizang that thery now released the 71.84 I'm going to download them and test it

The betas are on:
