Hi, for english class, we have made a video and I have a DVD burner so we are going to put the video on a DVD to show it to the class. I video is done. I used Pinnacle Studio 8 to edit and render the movie, I then used Sonic MyDVD to put it on a DVD and add movies and stuff. I have a small problem,
When I play the DVD on my TV, sometimes the edges seems to be cut off. So on my 25 inch TV, the top, left, right, and bottom edge are cut off. About 1 inch is cut off on each side.
How can I correct this problem?
help the video project is due soon!

What format did you make the video with Pinacle Studio 8? Also be sure when you get your video source that the TV standard is NTSC.
This is what i do:
If you made an avi convert it to mpeg with virtualdub before going to TMPGEnc DVD author.
Or if you already have a mpeg (take topquality(DVD)) you can directly use TMPGEnc DVD author. Really easy to use you can make a DVD menu cut it in chapters add other tracks etc. To burn it, you can use CloneDVD. If you made a menu make sure to "check" the preserve menus if not uncheck it (otherwise you'll see the menu pop up at the end of the video with nothing on it :D). then burn it.
I've never used the menu option in Pinacle Studio 8. But i'm sure it's about the same as TMPGEnc DVD author.

It seems you know a lot about this kind of stuff, and I don't know of lot of stuff about it. I used Pinnacle Studio to make the file an mpeg and I set the setting to "DVD compatible". I found sorta of solution, my friend has a portable DVD player, and there is a zoom feature. When playing the DVD, if you zoom-out then you can see the whole video. I don't really need chapters either.
By using TMPGEnc DVD author, will that make it so the edges of the video aren't cut off?

I dunno what it is then really if you got your source video set NTSC there really wouldn't be any problem with the rest off the burning and stuff so i don't think it has anything to with how you convert the mpeg to DVD or you've changed some default settings on the Sonic MyDVD?
Here is a tutorial how to use Sonic MyDVD http://www.gomolldesign.com/greenrooms/mydvd_help/5.0.htm

Sonic MyDVD is set to NTSC, i haven't changed any settings, this is the first time I have used it since the reformat. Are there any other programs like SonicMyDVD, mabye Sonic is the reason for the problem.
I only other DVD video i have made before was by instead of using Pinnacle Studio, I used Roxio VideoWave Movie Creator and then used Sonic MyDVD to make the DVD and it worked fine.
But after the reformat and reinstall of windows xp, I installed Pinnacle Studio and SonicMyDVD instead of Roxio VideoWave and SonicMyDVD.

I meant the settings on your Pinacle Studio are you sure it's NTSC?
If you get the camera on your PC and upload the videosource from it... you can change the setting to NTSC/PAL/SECAM.

I don't know where to change the settings in Pinnacle Studio, so I couldn't have changed them in the first place.
I have attached a jpeg image of the settings Pinnacle Studio made the video in.
And by the way, thanks for all the help Ghost!

Heh pretty weird. I got a dutch version of it, and it doesn't look the same. If you record your video from camera onto the PC. The push the setting button. Try the first tab and i've put a circle around what i mean.

Oh yeah, well I have never seen any PAL or video setting in the program, when I play the video clip on the computer it is fine.
Do you know any other programs like SonicMyDVD that can make a DVD that runs on normal DVD players?

Maybe this guide would help it's done with Pinacle Studio 9 but i don't think it makes much difference http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=206727

I don't have any idea what is wrong. I tryed to make and burn the DVD in Pinnacle Studio.
I did what it said in the guide. I made the file in Pinnacle Studio and then made the DVD in Nero Burning ROM.
The same thing happens every time.
The video is sorta zoomed in, so about 1 inch is cut off from the top, bottom, left, right.

You did get it from a camera right?
Try to record it again and check all settings before recording it on PC. Make sure if there is a NTSC/PAL setting, to put it on NTSC.

I can't really record it again or anything. I had video from the camera and then put it on the computer and spent about 20 hour editing the video. I can't edit it again.
It isn't that big a deal, I just want to know how to fix it so the next video and DVD i make, the same thing will not happen.
Thanks again Ghost!
