Need for Speed Underground Hangs up

whenever i try to play the underground mode the computer hangs up!
i mean as i select the 'Go Underground' option from the main menu and accept the prompt....
i've tried all the other arcade modes and they dont seem to have any problems...

i'm running a P4 1.6ghz with 256mb RAM and a Geforce 4 mx 440

have u tried an uninstall reinstall job?? are u using a NO CD for it??

yes i tried reinstall several times..
i was not using a no cd before but am now...
i first tried a no cd for the 1.0 version then i even tried the 1.4 patch and the no cd for that one..
i also tried using different no-cd patches.

try setting up a new profile and see if underground works then.

wow i thought that could work....but it didnt...
now i even tried deleting all the registry entries that could be connected to this game and then reinstall but that didnt work..
