hi is there a guide or can some1 please tell me how 2 make backups of my ps2 games thanx.

Extract your PS2 game with one of these programs:

Extracting with DVD Decrypter. (*.ISO)
Insert original game. Open DVD Decrypter. Mode > ISO > Read. Source: select the source where you put your original PS2 game in. Destination > click on the browser and save it in any folder you like (make sure you remember it). Press on the CD to HD image, and it starts to burn your game on your HD.

Extracting with Prassi PrimoDVD. (*.GI)
Insert original game. Open Prassi PrimoDVD, click the "Go to Full Application" button. Select your DVD burner and right click it. Select “Build Global Image…” Destination & name of the image file that will be created. Select “Read Speed”, I always choose MIN for speed. Click the "Build" button, and it starts to burn your game on your HD.

Extracting with RecordNow MAX. (*.GI)
Insert original game. Open RecordNow MAX. Select your DVD-ROM drive, right click it Drive Properties”. Click on the “Global-Image” button. Enter the destination and name of the file that will be created. Select “Read Speed”, I always choose MIN for speed. Click on the “Build” button, and it starts to burn your game on your HD.

Extracting with Alcohol 120%. (*.MDS/*.MDF)
Insert original game. Open Alcohol 120%. Click on "Image making wizard" Choose the device where you put your CD or DVD in. Read speed can stay on max because you are going to save the image onto your hard drive. Choose datatype: Playstation or Playstation2. Click button "Next" Choose the location where you want to put your new image files. You can give the files the name you choose. The image format i took was *.MDS Click start, and it starts to burn your game on your HD.

Extracting with Nero Burning ROM. (*.NRG)
Insert original game. Open Nero Burning ROM. Click on ‘Recorder’ > Select ‘Choose Recorder...’ (or Ctrl+R) Choose Recorder dialog appears > Select the 'Image Recorder' > OK. Click on 'Recorder' > Select 'Copy Disk...' (or icon 'Creates a copy of a disk'). New Compilation dialog appears. Copy Options > Uncheck 'On the fly' > Select your source drive > Select lowest speed available. Image > Click 'Browse' to save your image on the HD > Uncheck 'Delete image file after disk copy'. Burn > 'Write' checked > Click 'Copy', and it starts to burn your game on your HD.

Extracting with CDRWin (*.BIN/*.CUE)
Insert original game. Open CDRWin. Click on Extract Disk/Tracks/Sectors button. Extract Mode: Choose Disk Image/Cuesheet. CD Reader: Choose CD/DVD drive, where you put the original. Image Filename: Choose a folder and create a file name. Reading Options: check RAW leave the rest unchecked. Error Recovery Choose ignore. Jitter Control: Choose Auto, same with Subcode Analysis. Data, Audio speed: 1x Read retry count: 50 Subcode Threshold: Leave at default: 300 Click on start, and it starts to burn your game on your HD.

Extracting with DiscJuggler. (*.CDI)
Insert original game. Open DiscJuggler. From the menu select File>New… Click on “Create CD and DVD images” and select “OK”. Choose CD/DVD drive, where you put the original. Select your destination folder by clicking on the “Destination” button and browsing to the area. Give the end image file a name. Click on the “Start”, and it starts to burn your game on your HD.

Extracting with CloneCD. (*.CCD)
Open CloneCD Select the "Read to Image" Right click Game CD Select edit Under "Data Read Settings" select Read SubChannel Data Under "Audio Read Settings" select "Read SubChannel Data" Under "Error Handling" select Automatic Fast Error Skip, check "Don't Report Read Errors" and check "Intelligent Bad Sector Scanner." When done click on Game CD Check "Create "Cue-Sheet" ", select Browse to which folder you want to put it in, and click "OK". After that you can burn it again.

To burn it back on a DVD/CD

Burning with DVD Decrypter
1. Insert blank media. Open DVD Decrypter.
2. Mode > ISO > Write.
3. Source: browse where you put your image.
4. Destination > select the drive where you put your media in.
5. Press on the HD to CD image, to create the picture DVD.

Burning with Prassi PrimoDVD
1. Insert blank media. Open Prassi PrimoDVD.
2. Click on the Global image or other image button.
3. Select your DVD of your blank media (double click for a red arrow).
4. Burning speed low.
5. Select “Test and if ok record”.
6. Find the image with your browser.
7. Click on “Record”, to create the picture DVD.

Burning with RecordNow MAX
1. Insert blank media. Open RecordNow MAX.
2. Before buning check settings “Auto Insert Notification” OFF, “Autorun Shield” in ON
3. Click on the image button.
4. Select your DVD of your blank media.
5. Burning speed low.
6. Select “Record and verify” and “Verify every round”.
7. Find the image with your browser.
8. Click on “Record”, to create the picture DVD.

Burning with Alcohol 120%.
1. Insert blank media. Open Alcohol 120%.
2. You need to configure your Alcohol 120% to burn any image. Click on 'File' then click on 'Options'.
3. Click on 'Shell Extension' than check all the boxes so you can burn any image. Now click on 'OK'.
4. Click on 'Image Burning Wizard'
5. Click on 'Browse' to find your image file, finally click on 'Next'.
6. Select your CD or DVD burner and select the lowest write speed available. (Don't forget
Write Method: DAO/SAO, Write "checked", Bypass EFM error "checked").
7. Click on 'Start', to create the picture CD.

Burning with Nero Burning ROM.
1. Insert blank media. Open Nero Burning ROM.
2. Click on ‘Recorder’ > Select ‘Burn Image’.
3. 'File open' dialog appears > Select the *.NRG file you created > Click ‘Open’.
4. Nero's 'Burn DVD' dialog appears. Write 'checked' > Select lowest speed available.
5. Click ‘Burn’, to create the picture DVD.

Burning with CDRWin.
1. Insert blank media. Open CDRWin.
2. Click on Record Disk button, (It is located on first row and column).
3. CRROM recorder: Choose your CDR Device (it is automatically selected).
4. Recording Options: Check Test Mode to be safe and leave the others unchecked. For
speed: Choose your burning speed (Preferable 2x-4x).
5. Click on load Cuesheet button, then choose your *.cue file from your hard drive.
6. After compiling Cuesheet, click on Start Recording button to create the picture CD.

Burning with DiscJuggler.
1. Insert blank media. Open DiscJuggler
2. From the menu select File>New…
3. Click on “Burn CD and DVD images” and select “OK”.
4. Click on “Source” and browsing to find your image.
5. Choose CD/DVD drive, where you put the blank media.
6. Choose the action that you wish (“Write” or “Write & Verify”).
7. Select your write speed (as low as possible).
8. Click on the “Start”, to create the picture DVD.

is it possible to burn dvd9? wats the differance, i heard GT4 is dvd9 and cant be burned yet?

yes it is possible to burn DVD9, but as you say GT4 is still no-go

Do you have to have a mod chip for the burned ps2 games. I have found places that say you can use a boot up disk, mod chip or an external usb plug and play

Just wondering, with the appropriate software (please reccommend some to me here if you can/ want to) can I back-up NBA Street V3 successfully? Please feel free to suggest which DVD Rs I should use and specific software. Thanks. Links are welcome.

i cant back up my fifa street 2 why???

i followed those steps to the t twice im using verbetain 4.7 gig dvd-r disks any one know why its not working???

Which method did you use? try and write it at speed 1X. sometimes it doesnt work if the write speed is too high.....

It could be that it's not necessary to put that option on the next versions of alcohol 120% It was there on an old version. If you're having trouble with the tutorial i recommend DVD Decrypter it's free and easy to use.

I'll have a look at that problem when I go and visit him again. I'll get DVD Decrypter and give it a go. Thanks for your help.
