Greetings and salutations.
I'm not new to the mod and installation scene, but I am new to the PS2. This answer to this question may be common knowledge, but you'll please forgive me for asking as I've been unable to find information about it online.
I've recently purchased a pre-modded model 10 PS2 equipped with the Matrix Infinity 1.2 modchip. The unit plays PS2 originals and backups perfectly fine, and PS1 originals work great, as do recently made PS1 backups. The trouble largely lies in playing backups made several years ago. Most of the time, the games will go as fas as loading up to the PlayStation 1 logo, and then the video will go blank. I can often hear sound going on from the game, but I get no visuals to begin with. I can fiddle with some games blindly to get past the menus and afterwards the graphics appear. Others.... well, no such luck. One even starts up playing video, then blacks out afterwards. These backups were made using an old HP 2x and Phillips 4x burner, and ran okay on a model 1 PlayStation 1 with a modchip installed.
The PS1 backups I'm currently making are being made with an HP DVD burner, and so far they have all worked. Have any of you run into this problem before? Is it something to do with the older burners, or could it possibly be a botched installation? If it is a bad install, what could likely cause such a problem, and is it easily fixed? If it is the old backups themselves, is there any way to save them so they will be workable again? Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
