ok...how can i zip a file using winzip or winrar...i prefer winzip but for some reason its compression is VERY small..heres what i do

i right click anywhere in a folder....go to new...and click winzip file...pick a name...then i double click it...i click add...i choose my file which is a .bin file about just over 730 megabytes...i choose best on compression method...and when its done...about an hour later on winrar and a little less time on winzip...its zipped but its compression os 1%...it goes from like (example/730mb to about 725mb) im trying to burn it after onto a cdr but cant cause its too big...is there a way to choose the compression percetage?so that maybe i can make it under 700 megabytes so its fits on a cdr or even better make it like 300 megaytes...

any help GREATLY APPRECIATED!;)

thanks in advance

Not to sure how to compress the files anymore than what you have done already, but u could true splitting the rar file in 2.

When in winrar to create an rar file goto option > settings > compression > create default , then in the bottom left theres one that says ' split volumes, bytes '. Put the size of the files u want split too.

Hope that helps if u havent tryed that already.

I agree with above, just use winrar, and make a voulme, with like 15MB-20MB cunks, and put those on a cdr or two.

well, u all r right ppl, but if u chose rar (or ace) compression at max ratios, u can get a 10 - 40% of compression ratio (zip compression algorith sux!), so do that, n split the main file in lil parts (15Mb its fine!) ...

i preffer Winace instead winrar ... n its way ez to use (very intuitive)
