Quake on XP???

hey, having trouble getting the original quake to run, using XP withOUT SP1, any suggestions???

Try the Win98 compability mode.

Or you could update to SP1... Any reason you're holding back?
Then there is Aman's way, which I consider to be the better way, and get Linux and play on the there. The Linux copy is actually more stable and runs faster.
