Your chip must be DISABLED to go on LIVE, and use an original disc. Of course, there's always xbconnect. Also, rumor has it M$ is scanning for replaced HDs.

No rumor to it.
In the XBXLV beta paperwork it plainly stated that
MS would scan your Hdd for games played, games saved,
game play frequency, friends list, music list etc..
All on the notion of using the data gathered to better serve you
through better game design, game competitions, and verifying game
marketshare penetration.

Oh and it will bust Mods, bootlegged games, and bigger Hdd's.
At least in theory it CAN, whether or not they do anything with the data
against their gamers is another story.
I personally doubt they will do anything beyond ejection off
and lockout of access to the XBXLV servers.
Bringing lawsuits on gamers isn't exactly a good means of of garnering market share.
Locking their XBX's out on the otherhand just forces a gamer to buy another XBX.

Consider though,
Getting full premium access to XBXLV requires a valid credit card.
In theory if you were busted bad enough,
they could charge the bejeezus out of your CC
without your explicit permission...read the XBXLV fine print.

Again not something I see MS doing anytime soon,
but MS could soon do it anytime.

As long as MS is slugging it out for 2nd place
I don't see them rocking the boat too much.

If the XBX ever displaces Sony(don't laugh there are people from Sega
who thought much the same about Sony 9 years ago),
then I wouldn't count on too much MS magnanimity at that point.
